Busting Tommy Vu

From the hijack seat, Tommy Vu opens by raising all in with his last 17,500 chips. Thomas Nielsen calls from the cutoff seat, and Edward Brogdon reraises all in himself from the small blind. Nielsen calls the second raise as well and the hands are turned over:

Vu: {Q-Spades} {7-Spades}
Nielsen: {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds}
Brogdon: {A-Spades} {A-Hearts}

With the action complete, the dealer runs the board: {6-Clubs} {4-Spades} {7-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}. Neither of the trailing players manages to catch up to Brogdon's aces, and he takes down a nice pot, nearly tripling up to 74,300. Nielsen is left with 53,300, and Tommy Vu heads to the rail.

A Huge Pot for Seif

We pick up the action on the turn in what developed to be a huge pot between Mark Seif and Jamal Maistriaux. The board shows {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {4-Hearts} . Jamal bets 22,000, and Mark raises the minimum, making it 44,000 to play. Jamal goes deep into the tank, long enough that another player at the table calls the clock on him. With eight seconds left before his hand was killed, he puts in the call.

The river is the {5-Spades}. Mark Seif moves all in for 43,000, and Jamal calls much more quickly this time. Seif turns over {A-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}, having turned a full house. Jamal mucks his hand, leaving himself with 80,000 chips. Seif, meanwhile, has recaptured the chip lead with 256,000.

Phan Now a Spectator

John Phan moved in for 17,500 chips from the small blind. Rene Mouritsen was in the small blind, and he made the call, having Phan well covered. Phan showed {K-?} {9-?} and was ahead versus the {J-?} {8-?} of Mouritsen.

The board hit Mouritsen, coming out {J-?} {2-?} {9-?} {4-?} {4-?}, and John Phan has been knocked out.

Humberto No Bluff

Humberto Brenes
Humberto Brenes
On the very first hand of play, Neil Webber has been bounced out by Humberto Brenes. Webber moved all in for 12,000 with {5-Clubs} {6-Clubs} , and Brenes made the call out of the big blind, tabling {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}. As he turns it over, Brenes says in his familiar accent, "You see? Humberto never bluff."

The board tried to help Webber, but it never got there. It ran out {7-Hearts} {6-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}. In losing the hand, Webber is eliminated, while Brenes has chipped up a little to 46,000.
