The Shark is Going

Humberto Brenes
Humberto Brenes
The room has just gotten a little quiter as Humberto Brenes headed out the door. He got all his chips in preflop with {A-Hearts} {4-Hearts}, and he was in trouble against the {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} of Steven Levy.

The board missed Brenes, coming down {J-Spades} {7-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {Q-Spades}. After seeing the results, Humberto said it was "the best hand I had in three hours." It wasn't good enough though, and he heads off into the crowd.

Men The Racer

Men "The Master" Nguyen and Gil George got it all in preflop, with George being at risk of elimination. He holds {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} and is racing for salvation against Men's {A-Spades} {10-Clubs}.

The board kept him in it when it ran out {7-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {5-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}. Gil George doubles up through Men "The Master," who has slipped down to 24,000.

Back in Action

Players have returned from break, and the cards are in the air once again. The director has added 20 minutes back to the clock to compensate for time lost during hand for hand.

Bubble Hand Details

JC Tran knocked out Ken Hennum on the bubble with a bad beat. The chips went in preflop and Hennum turned {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} against Tran's {K-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}. After the flop came {5-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {3-Hearts} Hennum was thinking double up but Tran caught running nines to make trips.

Hennum was the bubble boy , but in exchange for the bad beat, Tran gave Hennum 1 percent of his prize for this tournament.

Money and a Break

A player has just been knocked out, and that will end hand-for-hand play. The remaining players are all in the money! Details on the bubble hand coming shortly. For now, the players are on a 20-minute break.

Mama Torelli

Alec Torelli has a fan in the building. His mother, Valerie, just stopped by our table to ask about her boy. She got his chip count and then ducked back into the crowd. She told us he'd be embarrassed if he knew she was watching nearby, so she vanished.

Our hope is that next time she brings us some homemade chocolate chip cookies in exchange for the info.

Sass Kicks Ass

[Removed:326] has been eliminated in hand for hand play by Alan Sass. All the chips went in preflop and the hands were turned. [Removed:327] had {A-?} {A-?} and Sass had {Q-?} {Q-?}. [Removed:327] was poised for a double up but a queen hit the turn and Sass made a set, to trump [Removed:327]'s aces.

Sass has 205,000.

Brenes Dancing

Humberto Brenes was wildly dancing around the tables, making us all think he made the money or won a huge pot, but when we went to see the hand that warranted said dance. He said "I have to pee!! It's my potty dance." We are still looking for our bubble boy.
