Kenny Tran Crippled

Hold'em:

On a flop of {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}, Alexander Kostritsyn checked, Kenny Tran bet, Kostritsyn raised and Tran called. The turn was the {Q-Hearts}. Kostritsyn bet and Tran called. The river was the {6-Clubs}. Again, Kostritsyn bet and Tran called.

Kostritsyn turned up {A-Hearts} {K-Spades} for top two pair and Tran mucked. "Sick Call Kenny" is now down to only 30,000.

Lyle Berman
Lyle Berman
Omaha-8:

Lyle Berman and Layne Flack just got mixed up in a hand that saw a showdown. On a board of {Q-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}, Berman tabled {K-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {5-Spades}. Flack mucked and Berman scooped the pot with his flush and {8-?} {5-?} {4-?} {3-?} {2-?} low.

Keith Sexton Doubles Up

Stud-8:

The exact action is unclear, but Keith Sexton and Mark Gregorich played a hand to showdown and when all was said and done, Gregorich had no answer for Sexton's ({A-Hearts}) ({7-Diamonds}) {2-Spades} {3-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} ({2-Hearts}). Sexton took the high and the low and now works with a stack of about 130,000.

Rob Hollink Eliminated

Stud:

Rob Hollink (X-X) {K-Hearts} {5-Spades} {6-Hearts} {10-Spades} (X)

Gabe Kaplan (X-X) {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {J-Clubs} (X)

Rob Hollink completed on third street and Gabe Kaplan made the call. On fourth Hollink checked, Kaplan bet and Hollink called. On fifth Kaplan bet out showing a pair of sixes, Hollink raised all in for 36,000 and Kaplan called.

Hollink showed {A-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {6-Clubs} for a pair of sixes and a busted flush draw while Kaplan rolled over {2-Hearts} {2-Spades} {9-Hearts} for two pair, sixes and deuces. Kaplan dragged the pot, increasing his stack to 370,000 and Hollink was eliminated.

Perhaps We Should Call Him Billy the H.O.R.S.E.?

Billy "The Croc" Argyros
Billy "The Croc" Argyros
Several of our colleagues from Down Under have pointed out that only four H.O.R.S.E. tournaments have ever been held on the Australian mainland and Billy "The Croc" Argyros has won three of them. This reporter witnessed two of those victories-- in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. at the 2008 Aussie Millions and the $1,100 H.O.R.S.E. at the 2007 Poker News Cup, both held at Melbourne's Crown Casino.

Crocky is currently on 181,000 in chips.

Flack Shows Ivey the Varkonyi

Hold'em:

Action folded to Phil Ivey in middle position and he raised. Layne Flack was next to act and he called as did Barry Greenstein from the big blind.

The flop came {Q-Spades} {6-Clubs} {4-Hearts}. Greenstein checked and Ivey bet. Flack called and Greenstein passed. The {K-Hearts} hit the turn and Ivey bet again. Flack went nowhere. The river came the {8-Hearts} and Ivey put the brakes on. He check-called Flack's bet and Layne showed him the {Q-Clubs} {10-Clubs}. Ivey mucked and was left with just 103,000. Flack is now sitting on a stack of 240,000.
