Fitoussi Out of Here

Bruno Fitoussi has just been knocked out by Sigi Stockinger. The cards of relevance on the board were {2-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}. Fitoussi held {K-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}, but his second nut flush was no good, as Stockinger tabled {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} and sent Fitoussi to the exit early.

Andy Black Eliminated

It was a quick, brutal day for Andy Black. After taking an early hit and redeeming his rebuy chip, Black was already down to under 2,000. He managed to triple up by getting all in pre-flop against two players with {4-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts} and hitting the nuts on a board of {J-Spades} {2-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {3-Hearts}.

"I'm sorry," said Black. "I'm trying to get knocked out of the tournament."

The very next hand, Black doubled up to about 14,000 with {8-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {10-Hearts} when he flopped the nut straight and it held up through the turn and river. Black's luck came to an end the following hand, however. In a three-way pot with Arturo Diaz and one other player, Black bet 5,500 on the turn with the board showing {8-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {10-Spades} {5-Hearts}. Diaz moved all in and was called by the other player before Black called as well.

Black: {4-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {9-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}
Diaz: {A-Hearts} {3-Spades} {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}
Opponent: {7-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs}

Diaz had middle set; his opponent had a partial wrap draw; and Black also had a partial wrap draw. Unfortunately for Black, they were holding each other's outs. The turn and river came {5-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} to allow Diaz to scoop a pot worth almost 50,000 and eliminate Black.

A Note About Chip Counts

Players begin the tournament with 10,000 in tournament chips plus a red reload chip that is good for another 10,000 chips at a time of the players' choosing. This red chip is not in play, must be redeemed between hands, and has no cash or tournament value during the deal. Some will choose to use it right when they sit down; others will wait until they need the extra chips. If they do not spend their red chip by the end of level three, the 10,000 reload chips will be added to their stack at that time, for a total of 20,000 starting chips. Be aware that our chip counts do not indicate whether a player has reloaded or not, so they may be misleading up until the mandatory add-on at the end of level three.

Build an Empire of Chips

Barry Greenstein is trying his best to amass an early chip stack before he has to run over to play the $50K HORSE final table. He was just involved in a three-way all in on a flop of {Q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {6-Spades}. Greenstein held a set of queens against one opponent's set of tens and the other opponent's straight draw. The set of queens held up when the board paired sixes on the river to make Greenstein the best full house.

He now has 27,000.

Mizrachi Grinding Early

We pick up the action on the flop in a three-way pot between John Juanda, Michael Mizrachi, and a player in the big blind. There is nearly 5,000 in the pot already as the flop comes out {2-Spades} {10-Spades} {8-Spades}. When it checks to Juanda, he bets out 1,000. Both opponents call.

The turn brings the {6-Clubs}, and all three men check.

The river is the {5-Hearts}. This time it checks over to Mizrachi, and he puts out a bet of 3,000. The big blind calls, and Juanda ducks out of the way. Mizrachi turns over {K-Spades} {6-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {9-Clubs}, and he takes down the pot with his king-high flush.

Rabbi, Ribeye, Rebuy

On a flop of {8-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}, Jamie Gold check-called a bet of 1,500 from his opponent. When the turn came {10-Hearts}, Gold bet 5,800. His opponent raised all in, and Gold made the call.

Gold: {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {8-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Spades} {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}

Gold missed his straight on the river and has redeemed his rebuy chip.

Minieri responded with a simple, "No."

Matusow, through a big grin, replied, "Me neither."
