Aces and What Else?

Clonie Gowen's chip stack goes up as Michael Mizrachi's chip stack goes down. Mizrachi bet 10,000 on a flop of {7-Spades} {6-Spades} {3-Diamonds}, which was called by Gowen, who then bet 25,000 on the {9-Spades} turn. It was Mizrachi's turn to call.

On the river {K-Spades}, Gowen shoved or 55,600, inducing a fold from Mizrachi. After the pot was pushed to her, Gowen claimed, "I had aces." Whether or not that's true, she now has 145,000 chips and Mizrachi now has 265,000.

Tony G Gets El Doble

Tony G recently got the slightest bit of breathing room. Peter Jetten raised to 6,000 preflop. Action folded to Tony G in the big blind, who reraised to 16,000. Jetten called, then called again after Tony G moved in for about 5,000 on a flop of {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}.

Tony G: {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {9-Spades}
Jetten: {J-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {7-Spades}

Neither player had much of a draw, but Tony G was in good shape, holding two of the outs needed for Jetten to make a straight. The {A-Spades} popped on the turn to make a set for Tony G, and the river was harmless {5-Spades} blank.

Tony G is up to about 45,000.

Chau Down

We caught up with a three-way pot between Rob Hollink, Chau Giang and Nenad Medic on the turn. Roughly 40,000 was in the pot, and the board showed {Q-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. Medic checked to Hollink, who bet 40,000. Giang called all in for about 35,000, and Medic folded. Giang was behind with {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}, for trip queens, to Hollink's {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {10-Clubs} for the nut flush. Giang needed a board pair on the river and didn't get it when the river fell {6-Hearts}.

Giang was eliminated from the tournament on the hand. Hollink is up to 157,000.

Amit Eliminated

Sometimes the bust-outs come so fast, it seems like a player is going out every hand. Add Rafi Amit to the tally to start Day 2. He was all in preflop with big-stacked Shawn Buchanan. Buchanan's hand of {J-Clubs} {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} connected very well with the flop of {K-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}. Amit didn't miss the flop too terribly either, with {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {4-Spades}. The board never paired, though, allowing Buchanan's straight to hold up.

Arieh Towering Over the Field

Josh Arieh
Josh Arieh
With three limpers into the pot, action comes around to Josh Arieh in the small blind. He raises it to 10,000. The first two limpers call, and Charlie Wang decides to reraise from late position, making it 52,000. Arieh is the only caller this time, and it's heads up to the flop.

It brings {J-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {2-Hearts}. Arieh checks and Wang bets out all in for his remaining 85,300. Big stack Josh Arieh makes the call.

Arieh: {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}
Wang: {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}

Wong leads with his pair of kings. The turn brings the {4-Clubs} and a few more outs for Arieh. The river comes through for him, dropping the {5-Hearts} and making Arieh the winning jacks over fives. He knocks out Wang and increases his lead over the field. Arieh now sits with a whopping 480,000.

Boeken Walkin'

Noah Boeken is the latest casualty in the Brasilia Room. He bet 11,000 preflop, 27,000 on a rainbow flop of 9-7-4, and his last 23,000 when an ace hit the turn. Each bet was check-called by [Removed:14]. Harroch tabled a wrap straight draw with Q-J-10-8 after the turn bet; Boeken showed AAxx for a set of aces. The river was a 6, filling Harroch's straight.

Busto Humberto

The tournament of Humberto Brenes is over. He raised to 7,000 after Marty Smyth limped in. Smyth called to a flop of {9-Spades} {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds}, then bet pot, enough to put Brenes all in. He called with naked kings; Smyth showed a partial wrap draw with {10-Spades} {8-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}. The turn {Q-Hearts} helped neither player, but the river {10-Clubs} completed one of Smyth's straight draws.

Smyth now has 152,000.
