Amir Vahedi Takes a Hit

After an opponent raised to 450, Amir Vahedi reraised to 1,450. Another player moved in for 1,650 total. The original raiser then came back over the top for 5,225 and Vahedi called.

Vahedi and the first raiser both held A-K and the shorter-stacked player held J-J.

The board ran out {4-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} and Vahedi looked at the first raiser's hole cards again to see that he held the {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} and freerolled to a flush.

Vahedi was knocked down to 4,200 after building his stack nicely.

Edler Stunned

While the details are a little fuzzy, Bill Edler has been ousted from today's event early. His opponent called a preflop raise and landed trips to knock out the Stunning One.

Bigger is Better

The tournament board shows that 1,591 players have entered today's event so far, meaning we have officially surpassed the count from last year. The official number will be released shortly following the close of registration.

In Lieu of Jacks

Two players limp into the pot, and Liz Lieu makes a raise to 250 from the small blind. The big blind reraises to 1,250, and Lieu is the only caller.

The flop comes down {2-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}. Lieu checks, and her opponent bets 1,800. Lieu comes over the top all in, and gets the call. She shows down Q-Q, and is well ahead of her opponent's J-J.

The board runs out {9-Clubs}, {6-Spades}, and Lieu doubles up to 6,900.

Tilly Up and Gone

After losing a few more chips to drop back down to 525, Tilly moved all in a few hands later after the flop came {Q-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. She got two callers and was looking to triple up.

The turn came the {4-Hearts} and the river the {7-Clubs}. Only one other opponent made it past the flop and Tilly only had to best him at the showdown. Tilly showed {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds}, but her opponent held a higher pair with the {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. Tilly was eliminated while her boyfriend Phil Laak is still in the field with hopes of another deep run.

Sebok Moving Up

In a multi-way limped pot, several players see a flop of {A-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}. Joe Sebok leads the betting with 225 chips. He gets just one caller, and the two go heads up to the turn, which brings the {6-Diamonds}. Both players check, and the river comes the {10-Diamonds}.

Sebok decides it's time to lead again, and he bets 400. His opponent makes the call and Sebok flips over {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}. His top and bottom pair had turned into the nut flush by the river, and he adds some chips to his stack, which stands at 6,500 in the early going.

Much Love for Yang

His opponent said, "Just for you, Jerry. I show because I love you," and flipped over {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} for top two pair.

Edler Lays one Down

Two players limp into the pot, and Bill Edler raises both of them, making it 300 to go. Both opponents make the call.

The flop brings {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} , and the first player to acts bets out into the Stunning One, sliding 500 chips forward. The middle opponent folds, but Edler stays in to see the turn, which comes the {3-Hearts} . The aggressor bets out again, and Edler decides he's had enough, and mucks his hand. His opponent flips over {A-Clubs} {7-Spades} , giving him top two pair and a few of Edler's chips.
