Big Slick Holds for Paul Kobel, Another Player Down

Paul Kobel just picked up some chips and sent a player home when his {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} held up against the {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} of his opponent. There wasn't even much of a sweat for Kobel as the flop came {K-Spades} {6-Spades} {8-Clubs}. The turn and river were the {5-Hearts} and {10-Spades} respectively and Kobel is up to 85,000 and we're one player closer to awarding a bracelet.

Fuller Wins a Big Pot

Action seems to be slowing down here in Event #9, but that hasn't stopped Thomas Fuller. Sitting in the big blind, he called a button raise to 3,000. The players saw a flop of {6-Hearts} {4-Spades} {2-Clubs}. Fuller check-called a bet of 6,000 from his opponent. The turn came {7-Clubs} and Fuller checked again. This time his opponent bet 12,000. Fuller came over the top all in; the button called all in for a total of 30,000. When the dust settled, they opened their hands:

Fuller: {6-?} {7-?}
Button: {6-Clubs} {3-Clubs}

The button needed a five or a club, but got neither when the river came {A-Diamonds}. He was eliminated from the tournament on this hand, while Fuller increased his stack to about 150,000.

A Numerical Anomaly

A quick glance at a clock shows 11:40 pm here in Las Vegas. The significance of that number goes beyond the local time. Ironically enough, 1,140 players have been eliminated thus far in this event.

Curt Householder Cracks Aces

On a flop of {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} , the small blind bet 6,000. Curt Householder raised all in for roughly 50,000 from the big blind and a Dominic Sinagra reraised all in from under the gun. The small blind passed and the players tabled their hands. Sinagra showed {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} but was behind the {7-Hearts} {6-Hearts} of Householder. The turn and river blanked for Sinagra and Householder took down the pot. He climbs to 122,000 while Sinagra, despite doubling up two hands in a row after this hand, is still below average with about 30,000.

Frazer Folds to a Flush

We caught up with this hand on the turn. Ian Frazer bet 6,500 on a board of {2-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {4-Spades} and was called by Tom Dobrilovic on the button. The river brought a fourth club, the {7-Clubs}. Frazer checked Dobrilovic, who bet 5,000 into a 30,000 pot. Frazer went into the tank for a minute before folding his hand. Dobrilovic raked the pot and flashed {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs}.

After the hand, Dobrilovic was up to 64,000.

Cooper, Lawson Eliminated

On the turn of a {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} board, Ted Lawson checked to his opponent, who deliberated before pushing all in. Lawson called all in with a set of fives; his opponent made the nut flush with {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts}. The board didn't pair on the river, eliminating Lawson. He collects $2,277.

At a different table, Caroline Cooper was also eliminated. She raised preflop to 3,000; the big blind reraised to 9,000. She debated, then put in a third bet, all in. The big blind called and had her dominated, his {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} against her {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. The board helped neither player, crippling Cooper to just 2,500 chips. She went out two hands later and will also collect $2,277.
