Hansen Makes Super-Flush

Thor Hansen
Thor Hansen
Thor Hansen and Eric Koskas pushed their short stacks into the middle before the flop with Hansen's {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} trailing the {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} of Koskas. However, the board ran out {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and seven clubs indeed make a flush, as Koskas is sent to the rail.

Hansen is now sitting comfortably again with 33,000 chips.

Rousso Rolls

Vanessa Rousso

We caught up to this hand on the river. With the board reading {J-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {7-Spades}, Vanessa Rousso's opponent check-called her bet of 5,000 on the river.

Rousso showed {K-Hearts} {8-Hearts} for the missed flush draw turned runner-runner straight. It was good as her opponent mucked. Rousso is now sitting on a stack of about 33,000.

Deeb Has Outs, Hits Different Outs

Runar Runarson Would be Proud
Runar Runarson Would be Proud
A player under the gun raises to 2,100 and Shaun Deeb calls. The fop comes {5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and the opponent bets 3,500. Deeb raises to 20,000. The opponent calls all in for 11,000 and shows {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}. Deeb has {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. The turn and river are {10-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Deeb hits runner-runner flush to move up to 46,000.

The WSOP Fashion Report: Day 1B

Bathrobe Boy
Bathrobe Boy
Though the costume count is way down in this year's Main Event, there is still plenty of room for poor clothing choices. Admist the sea of 20 and 30-something men donning various pieces of online poker room swag, some truly appalling fashion choices are being made.

Ed Hardy t-shirts and hats are becoming the newest poker cliche. Favored by the young, hyper-aggro crowd, these studded eyesores have completely lost their trendiness and now can serve as a form of player profiling. Guy in a Hardy tee? Probably overconfident and plays too many hands.

Then, there's the pink hat lady. And not just any pink hat...a pink cowboy hat (also worthy of being dubbed a new poker cliche). Perhaps if she'd left it at the hat...but not a chance. She also has on a black t-shirt with a large sequined club on the front, a pair of sunglasses with the ace of spades rendered on each side in Swarovski crystals, and a black jacket with silver-studded pockets. My retinas are still burning.

Also going for a silver theme is one of last year's Main Event final tablers Lee Watkinson. He's draped in a variety of silver necklaces and bracelets, all from his new jewelry line. Few men can pull this look off but Lee juuuuust gets there.

And then there's the guy playing in a bathrobe...enough said.

Sundbo vs Koskas

In two back-to-back hands Eric Koskas and Sverre Sundbo have clashed, with the honors shared.

In the first hand Sundbo fired a 5,000 on the river on a board of {5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, with Koskas making the call. Sundbo tabled {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} for a full house to take down the pot and leave Koskas in trouble.

However, Koskas got his revenge when he flopped the wheel with {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts} on a flop of {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Sundbo pushed with his {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flush draw but couldn't connect when the board ran out {2-Spades}, {7-Diamonds}.

Koskas is back to 13,000 with Sundbo now on 50,000.

Garaventa Sucks Out

Jody Garaventa
Jody Garaventa
Jody Garaventa had his opponent all in preflop. Garaventa held pocket nines and was behind his opponent's pocket tens. Garaventa had about nine times the chips of his opponent when the money went in.

The flop came down {7-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {4-Spades}. Just as the ESPN cameras focused in, the {9-Diamonds} hit the felt. The {7-Spades} completed the board and Garaventa's full house as he came from behind to win the 5,000 pot. He's now up to 23,000.
