Sing Us a Song Tonight

We're all in the mood for a melody
We're all in the mood for a melody
David Singer raised to 1,000 from the cutoff, the small blind reraised to 3,000 and Singer made the call. The flop was {K-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}. The small blind bet 4,500 and Singer called. The turn was the {K-Spades} and both players checked. The river was the {4-Clubs}. The small blind bet another 6,500 sending Singer into the tank.

"Will you show if I fold?" queried Singer.

"No" was the small blind's quick reply.

Singer ultimately made the call, turning over pocket nines, which were good against the small blind's {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. He's now up to 55,000.

Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

Ayaz Mahmood, from Event No. 20
Ayaz Mahmood, from Event No. 20
As we near the dinner break, several tables are being broken at once and players are being assigned new seats. The table at which Isabelle Mercier and Ayaz Mahmood were sitting across from one another recently broke.

As the players stood waiting to learn where they were headed, Mahmood called out "She is disappointed," pointing at Mercier. The other players asked what Mahmood meant.

"Because I am leaving!"

Cox Injured by a Gunn, But Still Hanging On

Stuart Gunn raised it up to 900 from under the gun and found callers from Ian Cox in the next seat and a player in middle position before the flop came {2-Clubs} {3-?} {9-Clubs}.

Gunn bet 3,000 and only Cox called before the turn came {4-?} prompting the rest of the chips to go in.

Gunn tabled {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} to Cox's {Q-?} {Q-?}. The river changed nothing and Cox is down to just 3,050 whilst Gunn is up to 36,000.

Quads Might Not be Good?

Board: {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {4-Spades}

Tom Peterson bet 1,000 on the flop and Steve Diano called. On the turn, Tom fired 3,000 into the pot and Steve called. On the river, Tom fired another 3,000 into the pot and was raised this time by Diano. Tom called the raise and Steve showed A-10.

Tom turned over pocket sevens for quads and took the pot down. Many were surprised that there wasn't a reraise, but Steve was certainly thankful.

Reload and Finish the Job

Stuart Gunn came back to finish off the job on Ian Cox. The same weapon (a gun), more ammunition (chips) and {4-Hearts} {4-Clubs}. All Cox had to defend himself was {10-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}.

The board ran {4-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {6-Spades}.

Cox managed a hit but it was Gunn who fired the fatal shot to eliminate his opponent and put him up to 41,000.

Morrison Falls

Kirk Morrison
Kirk Morrison
Kirk Morrison has taken a couple of recent hits to his stack. In the first hand Peter Jepsen took down a pot on the river with an 8,000 chip bet on a board of {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Clubs}, forcing Morrison out of the pot.

Then a few moments later Morrison was caught bluffing, after firing 3,000 on the turn and 7,000 on the river on a board of {Q-Clubs}{K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. It looked like his opponent was about to fold but he eventually made the call. Morrison knocked the table and said, "Nice call," as he tossed his cards straight into the muck. His opponent showed {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} to take down the pot.

Morrison is back down to 14,000.

Sam Khouiss Ousted

Sam Khouiss just became the latest victim of the 2008 Main Event. He was short-stacked and pushed all in with {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} after a player had raised under the gun. When Khouiss moved, his opponent called him down, showing {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}.

The board ran out {7-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}. Khouiss failed to get over the hump, and he is headed out of here shortly before dinner time.

Traniello Busted

Marco Traniello raised from late position to 1,025. Ryan Hughes called from the button and the two saw the flop together. It was {10-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {2-Hearts}.

Traniello bet 2,500 and Hughes called. The turn was the {J-Diamonds} and Traniello led for 6,000. Hughes reraised all in for 33,000 and had Traniello covered. Marco made the call with {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. Hughes held {J-Clubs} {10-Hearts} for a turned two pair.

The river was the {6-Clubs} and couldn't put Traniello back in the lead and he was eliminated.

Hughes is up to 75,000.
