Deuces Rule

Chris Moneymaker made a raise from the cut off and found the button and the small blind calling. The flop came down {3-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}.

It was checked to Moneymaker who fired 2,300 into the pot. The button folded before the small blind moved all in for 8,700. "This is a bad call, but let's try," said Moneymaker as he called with {A-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}.

He was indeed behind to the all-in player's {8-Spades} {8-Diamonds} until the turn came {2-Spades} and river {4-Hearts} to snatch the lead back for Moneymaker.

The player is eliminated while Moneymaker goes up to 74,000.

Kings?  That's not good.
Kings? That's not good.
Preflop, an under the gun player moved all in for 3,500. Gustafsson Bjorn then came over the top all in for 19,000. Mark Gregorich was in the big blind and called all in for around 5,000.

Bjorn held {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, Gregorich held {8-Hearts} {8-Spades}, and the other player held {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades}.

Board: {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {10-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}

Kings up were good enough for Bjorn to eliminate two players.

After the hand, Bjorn is up to 36,000 chips

Amit Omitted

With a board showing {Q-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}, Amit Makhija got the last of his chips in the middle and had a caller. Makhija had {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for top two, but his opponent had {10-Spades}{8-Spades} for the straight.

The river was the {3-Clubs}, and Makhija was out.

In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night....

I wonder if he has a power ring too..
I wonder if he has a power ring too..
At the World Series of Poker you see a lot of interesting articles of clothing. One thing that we haven't seen any of this year are superhero shirts. Normally when you see superhero shirts, you see a lot of Superman and Batman shirts. Louie Cohen broke that trend today when he arrived wearing a Green Lantern shirt.

In brightest day, in blackest night, no aces shall escape his sight.

Kirk Morrison Eliminated

James McManus opened the action with a raise to 800 from middle position and Kirk Morrison flat called from the big blind.

They took a flop of {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Morrison checked to McManus who fired a continuation bet of 1,100. Morrison made the call.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Morrison checked again to McManus who fired a second barrel worth 2,500. Morrison then announced he was all in and McManus snap-called.

"Noooo, are you sure you don't want to fold?!?" cried Morrison knowing that he was in trouble with his {K-Spades}{10-Spades}. Trouble indeed, as McManus showed {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for a set of jacks. A meaningless {9-Hearts} on the river, and Morrison stood and shook all of his opponents' hands before heading to the rail.

Before he exited, he spoke to our desk and wanted us to convey his thanks to all of the folks back at "The Gables" for their support as they followed our coverage. He also mentioned to us about an upcoming event he is involved with in the Cook Islands, so we look forward to hearing more from Kirk in the future.

The Life of Brian

'I knew the eight was coming!'
'I knew the eight was coming!'
Brian Townsend just took a step back in the right direction. He reraised a player preflop and then led out for a 4,000 bet on a {8-Spades} {3-Hearts} {8-Clubs} flop.

The bet was called before the turn came {9-Diamonds} and Townsend check-called his opponent's all-in bet of 20,000. Townsend turned over {8-Hearts} {4-Hearts} for flopped trips and his opponent showed {A-?} {10-?} for, errr, air.

The all-in player rivered a {K-Hearts} but it was no good and he heads out the door. Townsend nearing 70,000 again.

Bryan Devonshire Eliminated, Arnaud Mattern Takes Chip Lead

Devonshire=Dunzo
Devonshire=Dunzo
On a flop of {10-Hearts} {8-Spades} {6-Spades}, Bryan Devonshire bet out, Arnaud Mattern raised, Devonshire three-bet, Mattern four-bet all in and Devonshire called.

Devonshire: {7-Clubs} {9-Hearts}

Mattern: {7-Spades} {9-Spades}

Both players flopped the nut straight, but Mattern had a re-draw to a straight flush. The turn was the {A-Hearts} , but the {A-Spades} fell on the river and Mattern dragged the monster pot and eliminated Devonshire.

Mattern is up to 155,000 and is the current chip leader.
