Brintz's grandmother passed away just before he started playing in major poker events. In her memory, he carries a piece of her remains with him from tournament to tournament for good luck. Brintz has carried the urn to the 2004 and 2007 WSOP, the L.A. Poker Classic, and to the 2006 Ultimate Poker Classic in Aruba, where he finished fifth.
