Nice Flop

It was folded around to Dominic Kay in the small blind who made it 1,000 to play. C K Hua called from the big blind before the flop came {6-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {4-Hearts}.

Kay continued the aggression by betting 1,500 and he received a call from Hua before the turn came {K-Spades}.

Kay paused and looked down at his cards once more and then edgily bet 3,000 into the pot. Hua looked at his opponent and raised it up to 8,000. Kay immediately moved all in for a couple of thousand more. Hua made a reluctant call with {A-Spades} {5-Spades} for an open ended straight draw.

Kay tabled {5-Hearts} {7-Clubs} for the flopped straight. The river came {9-Clubs} sending the pot Kay's way. He's up to 28,000 now whereas Hua drops back to 58,000.

Willing to Fold A-A Preflop

Rick Fuller opened the pot for 800, a late position player reraised to 2,800 and Fuller moved all in for 12,000. The LP player paused and took her earphones off as she asked the dealer to count down Fuller's stack. About a minute later, she called and rolled over {A-?} {A-?}.

"What took you so long?" asked Fuller as he turned over {K-?} {K-?}.

"If you had me covered, I would have folded" she replied.

The aces held and Fuller was eliminated.

Enter the Cunix

Our current chip lead is Shawn Cunix. This is his second Main Event. He played two years ago and said that he was an early chip leader and got involved in a lot of hands and lost that lead. He got into this year's Main Event through an online satellite. He enters today's Main Event with over $153,000 in career tournament earnings.

Currently, Cunix sits with 105,000 in chips.

The Champ Doubles Up!

Jerry Yang
Jerry Yang
Jerry Yang opened with a raise preflop to 600, before an opponent made it 2,200 to go. Yang flat called.

They saw a flop of {5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Yang's opponent bet out 2,900 before Yang moved all in for 4,375. His opponent made the call.

Yang: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and river the {Q-Spades} to give Yang the pot as he goes around the rail shaking everyone's hands. He's now back up to about 15,000.

Tough Turn for Schneider

On a flop of {A-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}, Tom Schneider bet 2,000. Mark Newhouse raised to 6,000, and Schneider raised all in for just a few chips more. Newhouse called.

Schneider {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Newhouse {6-Spades}{5-Spades}

Schneider had top pair, but Newhouse had flopped the straight flush draw. The {7-Clubs} on the turn gave Newhouse his straight, making the river {K-Diamonds} inconsequential. Schneider is out, and Newhouse now has 47,000.

Still, not a bad follow-up to last year's WSOP Player of the Year performance for Schneider. He cashed five times this summer.

Keep an Eye on Her

Catherine Calhoun is here in Buzio's. She is the girlfriend of PokerNews field reporter Marc Hodge. He tells us that she had to get past James Van Alstyne in a satellite in order to make it into the main event. Already an accomplishment, and she currently has 39,000 in chips.

RWIII Reporting from Home Front

Robert Williamson III was moved to Buzio's from the poker room. We asked him how he felt about playing here now. "I went from the home game to the home front! I got the pool, I got the fans..."

He's got 19,000 at the moment, and his table in the back of Buzio's just broke. Seems they're moving whole tables from the poker room, and then breaking them soon after, distributing the players throughout the rest of Buzio's.
