Really?

On a flop of {5-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {A-Spades} in a raised pot, Dario Minieri bet 2,900. His lone opponent called. When the turn came {7-Hearts}, Minieri checked. His opponent came out firing for 5,000.

"I know you have ace-queen," said Minieri. "I know you have ace-queen. This is the sickest fold I've ever made in my life." Minieri then mucked A-K face-up.

Cunix Pulling Away from the Pack

The UTG player raised to 1,200 and Shawn Cunix called from middle position. The flop was {A-?} {Q-?} {J-?}. The UTG player moved all in and Cunix insta-called, turning over {K-Spades} {10-Spades} for the flopped straight to his opponent's {A-?} {K-?}. The turn and river blanked out and Cunix extended his chip lead, with 137,500 in his stack.

Jesus Walks

On a board reading {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {3-Spades} the big blind checked, Chris Ferguson bet 2,000, Zeav Malichie called on the button and the big blind folded. The river was the {6-Spades}. Ferguson moved all in for 3,000 and Malichie called.

Ferguson showed {7-Clubs} {7-Spades} for a set, but Malichie had flopped the nut flush with {K-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. Ferguson was eliminated, while Malichie is up to 38,000.

Overheard at the Tables

These are snippets of conversation we heard as we wandered around the Blue section:

"After this is over, I'm going to either Voodoo or the craps table."

"Don't they have any livestock in Vegas?"

"...bought a Porsche with his player points..."

"...trying to escape somewhere. I was deciding between Tabacon [Costa Rica] and Las Vegas."

Also, one player stood up as we walked by and started whistling "The Girl from Ipanema."

Hua Gets Tripped Up

Preflop, C.K. Hua made it 900 to go and the player on the button called. The flop fell {K-Clubs} {10-Spades} {3-Hearts} and C.K. checked. His opponent fired in for 2,200 and C.K. check-raised to 5,000. His opponent moved all in and C.K. insta-called, showing pocket aces.

However, his opponent had managed to flop a set of threes, knocking Hua down to 22,000 after he failed to improve.

Understatement of the Century

"That was a pretty sick move, huh?"
"That was a pretty sick move, huh?"
"I don't want you to call," said Dario Minieri. The board was showing {7-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades}. Minieri's opponent bet 1,500 on the flop, then called when Minieri raised to 3,600. On the turn, Minieri shoved all in.

"I will show you my hand," Minieri promised. His opponent finally folded and, good to his word, Minieri opened his hole cards: {2-Hearts} {5-Clubs}.

He currently has about 19,000 in chips.
