King High?!

On a flop of {7-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {4-Spades} Willie Tann led out for 3,000 from the big blind and the UTG player called. The turn was the {6-Spades}. Tann bet 5,000.

"Oh Willie..." sighed the UTG player, before tossing in a call.

The river was the {J-Clubs} and Tann checked.

"I check, I can't bet" said his opponent.

Tann showed king high.

"King high! I have a straight!" he cried, rolling over {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}.

Tann is down to 35,000.

Maybe the Master Should Have a Chat with Charles Yu

On a flop of {6-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}, Men "The Master" Nguyen bet 6,000 into an 8,000-chip pot and was called by one opponent with position on him. Both players checked the {2-Hearts} turn and the {8-Diamonds} river. At showdown, Nguyen's opponent opened {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}. Nguyen mucked his hand, but not without a rant.

"A five," said Nguyen. "A f*ckin' five!"

Nguyen has only 8,000 in chips left in his stack.

Henriksson Takes a Hit

Anders Henriksson made it 4,100 to go preflop from the small blind after the button had made it 1,100. The flop fell {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Spades} and Anders led out for 5,500. His opponent moved all in for 17,550 more and Anders called, showing A-K for top pair. His opponent turned over pocket queens for a flopped set, which held up. After the hand, Anders is down to 16,000.

AC Keeps Cool

An early position player raised to 1,200, and Allen Cunningham called from the cutoff. The blinds got out of the way, and the flop came {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}. The EP player bet 2,600, and Cunningham called. The turn was the {10-Clubs}. This time the EP player checked, Cunningham bet 5,000, and his opponent called.

The river brought the {2-Clubs}. The early position player checked, and Cunningham, deciding not to invite any extra trouble, checked behind.

Cunningham showed a pair of queens, better than his opponent's J-J. He has now tripped up to 60,000.

Chris Savage Eliminated

Chris Savage was eliminated after moving all in on a board of {K-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. Savage held pocket threes for a flopped set while his opponent, who had him covered, called with {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}. The board came running hearts to give his opponent the flush and Savage was eliminated from the field.

Erna Gets Caught

Sully Erna and John Esposito both checked the flop when it came {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {4-Spades}. The turn was the {4-Hearts} and Esposito led out for 1,500. Erna raised to 3,500. Esposito called.

The river was the {3-Diamonds} and Esposito checked. Erna bet 3,000 and Esposito called. Esposito showed {J-Clubs} {6-Clubs} and Erna held just queen high.

Beijer Doubles Up

Simon Beijer raised to 600 and a player behind him called. Both the blinds folded and it was heads up to the flop.

The flop came down {6-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} and Beijer bet out 1,500. His opponent raised all in and Beijer made the call with {J-Clubs} {J-Spades}. He was up against a pocket pair smaller than his, {9-Diamonds} {9-Spades}.

The turn was the {J-Hearts} and then the {4-Clubs} completed the board. Beijer doubled to 18,000.

Yup, He Got There

Carlos Mortensen
Carlos Mortensen
Just before the break Matt Mezdisky raised to 1,200 and Carlos Mortensen called from the small blind. Both players checked the {9-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} flop and when the {4-Hearts} turned Mortensen bet 4,000. Mezdisky called, and he called Mortensen's 10,000 bet as well when the {3-Hearts} fell on the river. Carlos showed {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} and the frustrated Mezdisky said, "Way to get there." He's now down to 33,500 and Mortensen is now up to 115,000, a fact sure to delight those sitting at his table.
