Jack Ury Eliminated

The tournament's oldest player, 95-year-old Jack Ury, has just been eliminated from the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Ury had been playing very tight today and had basically blinded himself down to 700 chips when he decided to push them into the middle.

Ury held {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}, but found himself up against an opponent with {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. The board ran out {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Ury was eliminated. The few tables left in the Tropical Room all gave Ury a warm round of applause.

"I can't walk, can't see, can't hear, but I can still play poker!" said Ury. "I'll be back again next year...if I'm still alive!"

See you next year, Jack!

Dunst Doubles a Player Up

Picking up the action on the flop of {K-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {4-Clubs}, Tony Dunst and Matt Zola got it all in. Zola was short-stacked and on the line with {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. Dunst held top pair with {K-Spades} {10-Clubs}.

The turn was the {A-Diamonds} and the river the {5-Hearts}, to give Zola a better pair and the pot to double up.

"What can you do?" said Zola.

Dunst asked to borrow his pen so he could continue taking notes on some key hands at the table. As he began to write on his notepad, Dunst spoke as he wrote, "F***ing a**hole!"

Cliff Boats Up

Board: {7-Clubs} {2-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}

Cliff Josephy and his opponent got most of their money in on the turn, but when the {7-Diamonds} fell on the river Cliff called his opponent's all-in. His opponent showed {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} for the nut flush, but Cliff turned over pocket nines for the full house. After the hand, Cliff is up to 177,000.

Rhett Butler Doubles Up

With the board reading {10-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {A-Clubs} on the turn, Rhett Butler got the last of his chips in the middle, and got a caller. Butler's {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} were well ahead of his opponent's {6-Hearts} {9-Hearts} and they held up when the {10-Spades} landed on the river.

Butler doubled to 40,000 on the hand.

Adam York Brings a Kicker to the Party

On a flop of {Q-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}, Adam York was heads up with a single opponent, who moved all in. York had the player covered and thought for a bit. He eventually made the call and showed {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}, which bested the {K-Spades} {Q-Spades} of his opponent.

The turn and river were blanks and York won the pot. He shook the hand of the player he eliminated who told him, "Next time, call the all-in faster."

"I have to think," replied a confused York. York now sits on about 57,000.

Migdol Outflopped

Michael Migdol made an opening raise from the small blind and the big blind promptly moved all in.

"Can I call you a thorn in my side now?" wondered Migdol aloud as he pondered his decision.

Ultimately, he made the call, turning up {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades} to the big blind's {K-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}. The flop, though was {K-Spades} {J-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}, pairing his opponent's king. The turn was the {6-Clubs} and the {K-Clubs} fell on the river, making him trips. Migdol lost the 24,000 pot and now sits with 59,000.
