Zinn Thin To Win

Adam Zinn opened with a raise to 4,000, and Tommy Le matched the bet from the small blind. The two men watched the dealer spread out {10-?} {4-?} {2-?} for a flop. Zinn bet 9,000, and Le raised it up to 25,000. Zinn called.

The turn was a {J-?}. Zinn let Le bet 35,000 before check-raising all in, having Le covered. Le insta-called his remaining stack -- about 75,000 chips -- and showed down {10-?} {10-?} for a set. Zinn tabled {J-?} {10-?} and was in trouble. The river was a raggy {K-?}, and Le doubles his way up to 280,000.

Mikey Likes Kings

Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow
On a board reading {J-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {4-Spades} the small blind made a pot-sized bet of 15,000, Mike Matusow raised to 50,000, and after a lengthy study as the ESPN cameras swarmed, the small blind gave it up.

"I was hoping to limp, then I see these two babies!" exclaimed Matusow, flashing {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}. He's up to 85,000.

Lars Christiansen Can't Beat Kings

On a flop of {J-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {3-Spades} , the blinds checked to Lars Christiansen, who bet 12,000. The button moved all in for 20,000 total and Christiansen called the additional 8K. Christansen's {Q-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} needed help against the button's {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} and couldn't get there when the turn came the {5-Clubs} and the river the {4-Clubs}.

Christiansen is down to 33,000.

Game, Set, Match

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and "Hollywood" Dave Stann have been battling it out for the last few hours. Grospellier finally got the best of Stann and busted him, pocket queens against pocket nines all in preflop. Neither player improved.

Stann is out of the tournament; Grospellier now has 170,000.

Harman In Harm's Way

With the board showing {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, Jennifer Harman checked and her opponent in the cutoff bet 9,500. Harman rechecked her cards, then looked over at her opponent. To call would mean committing most of the rest of her stack. Indeed, she was holding all of her chips in one hand.

Finally she folded. "Good hand?" she asked. Her opponent nodded.

Harman is down to about 12,000.

Where Chip Stacks Go To Die

You don't want to be seated at Table 4, Seat 1. Earlier today a player made a huge 85,000 overbet after flopping top pair. He ran into the nut straight and was run out of the tournament. Another player shipped in 70,000 drawing dead.

Jon Friedberg just reported to that seat and said, "Everyone here has a lot of chips, where'd you get them?". And that's when he learned that most of those chips were donated by the players who formerly occupied the chair he was about to sit in. Friedberg turned around and made like he was going to walk away, spilling one of his yellow 1,000 chips in the process. It landed on his chair...a bad omen?

Friedberg unracked as the players at the table told him about the demise of the others who'd sat in that seat. And then the cards were dealt and Friedberg reached for his chips and said, "Raise".

Daut Doubles

Ryan Daut moved all in preflop with {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades} and was called by a player with {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}. The board ran out {8-Clubs} {7-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}, allowing Daut to drag the pot and double up to 30,000.

We're Getting There

The tournament clock shows 927 players remaining in the room, which means we have lost more than 1,400 players since play began at high noon.

That also puts us at fewer than 1,500 total players remaining in the Main Event.
