Matthew Calhoun Eliminated

Matthew Calhoun - Eliminated
Matthew Calhoun - Eliminated
Jason Su opened for a raise to 14,500. Matthew Calhoun moved all in for 83,000 and Lou Esposito reraised to 200,000 total. Su threw his hand away and with action complete, the players showed:

Esposito: {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}
Calhoun: {K-Clubs} {9-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {5-Spades} and Calhoun's day was done. Esposito is up to just shy of 600,000 after the hand.

25,000 Chips Introduced

"Hey, what are those green chips in your stack?" asked a surprised Maya Antonius. A small stack of forest green chips sat atop her tablemate's stack of yellows and oranges.

He showed the chips to a curious Antonius-- at the last color-up dark green 25,000-denomination checks were introduced into play.

Ms. Antonius looked a bit disappointed that she didn't have any... yet.

Usher to Blue #41

As players arrived back from the break, Patrick Zamarian and Maya Antonius sat down in Seats 2 and 3, respectively, on Blue #41. Antonius looked down at a collection of empty water bottles on the floor near her seat and seemed confused.

"What's all this?" she asked.

The dealer at the table looked at the two of them and asked them whether he hadn't already dealt to them. It was then that Zamarian and Antonius realized they were at the wrong table -- their seats are at Blue #36, one table over.

Igor Ioffe Eliminated

Igor Ioffe made it to the first break, but not much past that. He got all in preflop with {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades} against Tony Clark's {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}. The board ran out eight-high to send Ioffe to the cage. Clark now has roughly 650,000 in chips.

Gary Friedlander Eliminated

Chris Barrile raised to 18,000 before the flop and Gary Friedlander moved all in for 43,000. Barrile called and his {7-Hearts} {7-Clubs} were racing against Barrile's {A-Hearts} {J-Spades}. That race came to a screeching halt after the {7-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} flop as Barrile flopped a set. The {A-Diamonds} on the turn did Friedlander no good and when the {6-Spades} fell on the river his Main Event came to an end. Barrile is now up to 740,000.

Johnny Chan's Set Not Enough

Johnny Chan
Johnny Chan
Damien Creurer was all in for his tournament life holding {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} against the {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} of one of the two previous WSOP World Champions left in the field in Johnny Chan.

As the cameras and media swarmed around the table, Chan ensured his All In energy drink was facing the right direction as he exclaimed "They're all cheering for me so that we can go to the feature table!"

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Chan clapped his hands as he spiked a set of fives but he would need to dodge a diamond to eliminate his opponent. However the turn was the {8-Diamonds} to give his opponent the flush, and Chan was now looking for the board to pair. The river brought another diamond with the {J-Diamonds} sending the pot to Creurer as Chan falls to 120,000 chips.

Zamarian's Miracle River

Patrick Zamarian was all in preflop with {6-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} against Allen Carter's {Q-Clubs} {J-Hearts}. The flop came down {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {7-Spades} giving the lead to Carter. The turn was the {A-Hearts}, but the {6-Spades} spiked on the river, making Zamarian's set and doubling him up to 161,000.
