So What if it's Unrequited?

It's Not Serious
It's Not Serious
Clint Schafer opened for 55,000 from middle position and Jeremy Joseph and David Saab both called. From the small blind Mauro Lupo min-raised to 110,000 and Schafer chose to fold. Joseph then moved all in for 700,000, and after Saab folded Lupo made the call.

He found that his {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} was pipped by Joseph's {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds}. The dealer (whose name is Sara, this is important) burned a card and turned over a flop of...{10-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}.

"I love you, Sara!!" Lupo shouted as his top set now had the lead. But Joseph still had an open-ended straight draw...until the {8-Hearts} on the turn gave Lupo a full house. The {2-Diamonds} on the turn didn't save Joseph and he's now down to 1.74 million, while Lupo doubled to 2.22 million.

Feurle Eliminated

Just before the dinner break, Brandon Cantu took out yet another player. He raised to 70,000 in late position, then called when Markus Feurle reraised all in for 452,000. Cantu had {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades} against Feurle's {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. Cantu was all set to walk away from the table when neither player had improved by the turn, but the river came {10-Hearts} to make a pair of tens. Feurle was eliminated.

Dinner Conversation Material

Right before dinner break, there were a couple of big hands that took place involving decent-sized exchanges of chips.

In one, Jamal Kunbuz raised, then Jeffrey Papola reraised all in for about 250,000 chips. Kunbuz called, showing {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}. Papola had {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. A queen flopped, and Kunbuz didn't improve. Papola survived, and will come back from dinner with 510,000 chips. Kunbuz is at three million.

The other hand was also a queens-versus-aces confrontation, this time between Paul Snead, who had {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}, and Jamal Sawaqdeh with {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}. The aces held up this time, and Sawaqdeh now has 1.53 million. Snead is at 830,000.

We're about five minutes away from the resumption of play.

Matusow Sluggish After Dinner

Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow opened from early position to 76,000 before Daniel Buzgon raised it up to 200,000 from the cutoff position. It folded back around and Matusow snap-called -- the first time he has called such a reraise all day.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Matusow checked to Buzgon who instantly moved all in. Matusow quickly folded, as he gets off to a rocky start after dinner to slip back to 550,000.

Gert Andersen Doubles Up

Gert Andersen
Gert Andersen
Reagan Silber raised to 65,000 and Gert Andersen moved all in for his last 300,000. Silber called, but his {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} were one-upped by Andersen's {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}. The board ran out {A-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {8-Spades} {5-Clubs} and Andersen doubled to 600,000.
