A Mellower Main Event: Same Big Dance, Fewer Costumes

In stark contrast to the circus atmosphere of previous Main Events, this year's "Big Dance" has started off in a remarkably mellow fashion. Aside from the fellow dressed in a wizard outfit yesterday there have been virtually no costumed players. Gone are the pimp hats, top hats, chef hats, and fur hats from yesteryear. Joe Sebok played in normal clothing rather than as a diapered bear, Jeff Madsen is back in his requisite Full Tilt gear rather than dressed as a jester and we have yet to spot any other prop bet losers dressed as superheroes.

Almost everyone we've spoken with over the past few days has commented at one point or another about how much more subdued the atmosphere has been this year. Perhaps the post-boom WSOP has left its adolescence and finally come of age?
