Breaktime Chip Leader

The biggest stack that we can find right now is the 35,000 in the possession of Nicolas Walters. "He got lucky," said Sunny Chattha to his right -- it turns out that Walters knocked out Andre Akkari. "Yeah," agreed an extremely cheerful Walters, "I'm a donkey, I'll be out soon."

And with that, players are heading off for another 20 minute break. Back shortly...

Chip Counts from the Brasilia Room

Karl Mahrenholz: 6,000
Eric Liu: 7,500

Cory Albertson: 9,500
Joe Grech: 7,500

Ferguson - not getting involved
Ferguson - not getting involved
What is Chris Ferguson up to, I hear the PokerNews-reading masses ask? With just 2,100 in chips, surely he's getting busy trying to double up, isn't he?

No! As far as we can see, Mr Ferguson is playing Chinese poker on his phone. That's dedication, right there.

Tran Donates

A slight accident for J.C. Tran, who called a 700 raise preflop and then called his opponent's 1,900 all-in on the {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} flop.

Tran: {6-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}
All-in Opponent: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}

Turn: {10-Spades}
River: {8-Spades}

"Good hand," said Tran and tapped the table; with 19,300 left, he can afford to be magnanimous.

Gazes Seeing Double

A player raised to 500 preflop only for Bill Gazes to make it 3,400, leaving himself just 1,000 behind. Call.

Come the {3-Hearts} {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} flop, Gazes stuck his last in, his opponent called, and they were on their backs.

Gazes: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}
Mr Opponent: {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}

Turn: {2-Clubs}
River: {J-Spades}

Double-up achieved. Gazes up to 9,100.

What Hellmuth Does

A player raised to 300, only for Phil Hellmuth to make it 1,300. Fold. Hellmuth showed him {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}.

"If I have the best hand, I raise," announced Hellmuth, "If I have the worst, I just call. That's what I do." His opponent declined to comment.

Chip Count Central

Nick Binger: 19,000
Joe Sebok: 11,300
Lee Watkinson: 20,500
Scott Montgomery: 19,000
Chris Ferguson: just 2,000

Still on roughly their 6,000 starting stacks:

- Kelly Kim
- Tom McEvoy
- Brandon Cantu
- Sorel Mizzi
- Yevgeniy Timoshenko
- Phil Hellmuth

'Vish Upon a Star

A fantastic recovery for Nina Tovish. Down to just a little over 2,000 in the first level, she's now up to over 10,000.

"I sucked out," she said cheerfully, telling me that her pocket fours came good against pocket fives when a four came down on the flop. A few hands later she doubled up with pocket aces against {A-?} {K-?}, and just now she took down a sizable pot after moving all in on the turn of a {9-Clubs} {6-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} board, eliciting an eventual fold from her opponent.

Taking Leba-ties

Ted Leba and his opponent found themselves all-in-and-call, all very very fast, Leba with the chip advantage.

Leba: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades}
His Opponent: {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}

Board: an incredibly exciting {9-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {5-Spades} {Q-Hearts} to almost double Leba's stack and bust the hapless coinflipper.
