Mercier Gets Richer

Jason Mercier already has one gold bracelet to his credit at the 2009 World Series of Poker. He's going for number two in this event and has built up a head of steam. He raised a {Q-Diamonds} door card after Mel Judah completed the {4-Diamonds}. A third player behind Mercier re-raised the {A-Clubs}, bringing a prolonged tank from Judah before he folded.

Mercier called the raise on third, then called bets on fourth, fifth and sixth streets. At the river, the boards were:

Mercier: x-x / {Q-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {A-Hearts} / x
Opponent: x-x / {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {7-Spades} {10-Spades} / x

Mercier led out with a bet that was called, then turned over {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {k-Clubs} in the hole for two pair, aces and jacks. They were good.
