Clements Poisons Ivey

After Scott Clements came in raising, Phil Ivey three-bet it, and Clements came right along with him. The flop brought {A-?} {Q-?} (X), and Ivey got his few remaining chips into the middle, turning over {A-?} {2-?} {3-?} {9-?}. Clements was unimpressed though, tabling {Q-?} {Q-?} {A-?} {3-?}. The turn and river proved useless to Ivey, and he has been eliminated in 22nd place

Climbing the Wahlbeck

Ville Wahlbeck opened with a raise in late position, and Pat Pezzin three-bet from the cutoff seat. In the small blind, John Monnette made the overcall, and Wahlbeck put in the third bet as well.

The flop came {J-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}. Monnette led out with a bet, and Wahlbeck called. Pezzin wanted to play for more though, raising the table. Both opponents called.

The turn card revealed the {4-Clubs}. Monnette checked this time, and Wahlbeck grabbed the betting lead, firing 24,000 chips at the pot. Pezzin raised again, and both opponents called once more. The last card off the deck was the {2-Clubs}. When Monnette checked, Wahlbeck fired again; both Pezzin and Monnette flat-called this time.

Showdown
Wahlbeck: {A-Spades} {3-Spades} {5-Spades} {8-Clubs}
Pezzin: {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}
Monnette: {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

Making the straight on top and the nut low, Ville Wahlbeck scooped up the pot. After dragging in a huge pile of chips, Wahlbeck is up to 425,000.

Continuing

We currently have 22 players left, four spots away from the money. Please continue to bear with our internet woes; we hope to be back online shortly."

While You Wait...

We again apologize for our lack of internet right now. The staff here at the Rio is working away at the problem, but there are no signs of improvement so far. Here's what we've missed.

Brian Haack was down to 18,000 chips, and they all went in a three-way pot. On the turn, the board read {3-Hearts} {7-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs}, and Haack held {A-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {8-Spades}. Ted Lawson showed {3-Spades} {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} {K-Clubs}, and the river blanked off to send Haack home.

A short time later, Bill Gazes became the next victim of Day 2. The board in his final hand read {K-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. Gazes held {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {9-Spades} {8-Spades} and could not beat Steve Zolotow's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {3-Clubs}. Gazes is out.

Ralph Perry was next to go. On a board of {8-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {10-Clubs}, Perry got himself all in on the river. Yueqi Zhu showed down {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}, his nut flush doing the job of eliminating Perry.

And last but not least, The Poker Brat is no longer with us either. Hellmuth was all in on a board showing {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades}. He showed {A-Hearts} {J-Spades} {J-Clubs} {4-Hearts} but could not match Pat Pezzin's {A-Spades} {K-Spades} {J-Hearts} {5-Hearts}.

Technical difficulties

We apologize for our lack of updates at the moment. We are dealing with internet issues in the Amazon Room related specifically to our site. We hope to be back up as soon as possible. Please bear with us.

Johnny's World Comes Crashing Down

Johnny "World" Hennigan
Johnny "World" Hennigan
John Hennigan opened with an under the gun raise, and Mack Lee made the call.

The flop revealed {2-Hearts} {6-Spades} {J-Clubs}, and both players checked. On fourth street, the {7-Hearts} drew another check from Hennigan, and Lee took the opportunity to bet. Hennigan called with just a few chips left behind. The {3-Clubs} hit the river, and Hennigan moved those chips into the middle, with Lee matching the bet to put Johnny World at risk.

Lee showed down {A-Clubs} {4-Spades} {6-Clubs} {7-Spades}, for two pair with the nut low. That was the winner, as Hennigan mucked his hand and headed for the door just a few spots short of the money.
