David Baker Eliminated in 15th Place ($128,666)

David Baker - 15th Place
David Baker - 15th Place
David Baker opened for 85,000 from the button, Lex Veldhuis reraised to 205,000 from the small blind, Baker shipped his entire 1,480,000 stack, and Veldhuis called.

Baker {6-Spades} {6-Hearts}
Veldhuis {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}

No love for Baker on the {A-Spades} {7-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {A-Diamonds} board and he departed in 15th place.

Veldhuis is now the dominant chip leader with 5.2 million.

Haxton Adding to Stack

Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton has picked up a couple of medium-sized pots here lately to chip back up to 1.35 million.

The first against Noah Schwartz. Haxton opened with a raise to 85,000 from the hijack, and Schwartz called from the cutoff. Both checked the flop -- {6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Spades} -- and turn -- {Q-Spades}. The river was the {3-Diamonds}. Haxton bet 85,000, and Schwartz called. Haxton showed {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for eights, and Schwartz mucked.

In the next one, Haxton opened to 85,000 again, this time from middle position, and got a caller in Vitaly Lunkin from the big blind. Once again the hand got checked to the river, at which point the board read {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Lunkin checked, Haxton bet 125,000, and Lunkin called. Haxton showed {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for kings and queens, and Lunkin mucked.

Townsend Snaps off Raymer's Aces

Snaaaaaap!
Snaaaaaap!
Greg Raymer made it 90,000 to go from UTG and Brian Townsend shoved for 250,000 from the small blind. Raymer snap-called, turning up {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} to Townsend's {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}.

The flop, however, was a monster for Townsend, coming down {K-Spades} {10-Hearts} {9-Spades} to give him the nut flush draw and a gutshot straight draw. He got there on the turn, the {J-Spades} filling to make his flush. The river was the {3-Diamonds} and Townsend doubled up to 630,000. Raymer is still quite healthy at 2,560,000.

Haxton Doubles through Rast

Brian Rast raised to 85,000 from early position, and it was folded around to Isaac Haxton, who pushed all in for 391,000 from the small blind. Rast thought about it, then made the call.

Haxton showed {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, and Rast {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. The board came {7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}{J-Diamonds}, and Haxton doubled to 860,000. Rast now has 625,000.

Clark Hamagami - 17th Place
Clark Hamagami - 17th Place
Clark Hamagami pushed all in for 463,000 from middle position, and it folded to Dani "Ansky" Stern on the button. Stern asked for a count, then decided to reraise all in himself. The blinds folded, and Hamagami showed {A-Spades}{10-Spades} versus Stern's {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

The board came {4-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades}, and Hamagami is out in 17th place, earning $96,171. Stern now has 1.43 million.

Play Resumes

The remaining 17 players are back in their seats and cards are in the air. The average stack at the moment is 1.42 million or just under 40 big blinds. Interestingly, the top five stacks (Bonomo, Veldhuis, Torelli, Raymer, and Baker) are all at the same table.

See the chip counts page for the latest totals, all of which were updated during the break.
