Danzer Rolls On

George Danzer is over 80,000 after a couple of key pots.

First he 3/4-ed Brett Richey holding {A-?} {5-?} {6-?} {9-?} on a {Q-?} {8-?} {7-?} {4-?} {9-?} board with all the money going in on the turn. Richey held {6-?} {5-?} {4-?} {3-?} so Danzer was freerolling the high and only had to avoid an ace on the river to scoop the low.

Also he limp/called {A-?} {K-?} {10-?} {7-?} from the small blind against the big blind's raise.

Both checked the {9-?} {5-?} {3-?} flop, Danzer admitted, "I was giving up at this point," but the big blind checked behind him.

On the {10-?} turn, Danzer checked again and his opponent potted for 7,200. Danzer repotted, and got called.

The river was the {2-?}, "A great card for me," said Danzer, "since it counterfeits A-2." He checked and his opponent checked behind. Danzer showed his hand, a pair of tens and A-7 scooping the whole pot.

Matusow Talking Some Game

Mike Matusow on Day 1
Mike Matusow on Day 1
Mike "The Mouth" Matusow is living up to his nickname as he always does. Over at his table, he's been talking constantly with Eli Elezra. Matusow stated that he'd love to play pot-limit Omaha-8 "over there", meaning in Bobby's Room at the Bellagio. Elezra asked what limits and Matusow told him $2,000-4,000.

"There'd have to be a cap." said Elezra.

"That's fine, the game would play fine with a cap of $100,000. That's like $100,000 of dead money out there every hand." Matusow commented.

Matusow then talked about how Elezra should try and get the game up and running so Matusow can play. "You can put me in." he said to Elezra. "And I'll even put up half. I won't lose in that game."

Rapoport Can't Even Get A Quarter

Al Rapoport has been knocked out after the one card in the deck that would see him scooped came on the turn.

He was all in on a {10-Spades} {5-Spades} {2-Clubs} board with {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} against Michael Solomon's {A-Spades} {3-Hearts} {6-Spades} {8-Spades} but then the {3-Spades} appeared on the turn and Solomon had made the nut flush and his A-6 now played. Rapoport was left drawing for a {4-?} just to get a quarter but it didn't come on the {9-Diamonds} river and he was eliminated.

Bloch Clubbin'

Andy Bloch raised to 4,200 and then Charles Kassin reraised all in for 5,800. Bloch made the cheap call for only 1,600 more with {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {3-Clubs}. Kassin held {A-Spades} {9-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {2-Hearts}.

The board was run out {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} and Bloch won with a pair of eights. Kassin was eliminated and Bloch moved up to 26,000.

Gabor, Ramirez Chop

On a flop of {Q-Hearts} {8-Spades} {6-Clubs}, Fabian Gabor check-raises pot against a 5,500 bet from Sergio Ramirez III for a total of 23,800. Ramirez calls and they see a {3-Hearts} turn where Gabor pushes all in and Ramirez calls.

Gabor shows {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} {10-Spades} {9-Spades} and Ramirez is freerolling the other two nines in the deck, given he has {A-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}.

The river is the {6-Diamonds} though, so time to chop up another pot.

"What About IIIIvvvveeeeyyyy???"

Phil Ivey has yet to show up for today's action. He's not just casually arriving late nor did he forget about the tournament. He's actually over in the other room continuing his deep run in the Omaha-8/Seven-Card Stud-8 event where they're down to the last 13 players. Although Ivey's been over there for most of today and yesterday, he still has roughly 40,000 chips. With the plan to play until a winner in the other event, we might not be seeing Ivey for a while.

Apple-Juiced

Mickey Appleman has knocked out both Gregory Giannokostas and Kevin Petersen.

All the money went in on a {Q-?} {3-?} {8-?} flop.

Appleman: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}
Giannokostas: {A-Spades} {4-Spades} {5-Spades} {6-Spades}
Petersen: {Q-?} {8-?} {9-?} {6-?}

Petersen was drawing to runner runner but Giannokostas had a shot at the low, but it came {10-?} and then {3-?} making a house for Appleman.
