Hoivold vs. Malaguti

Shawn Buchanan
Shawn Buchanan
We are now down to six heads-up matches.

Flaminio Malaguti just eliminated Shawn Buchanan after the latter found himself all in following a flop of {8-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Malaguti held {A-Clubs}{7-Spades}, and Buchanan {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. But the turn brought the {6-Spades}, giving Malaguti the straight. The river was the {3-Hearts}, and now it is Malaguti and Andreas Hoivold.

Hoivold has about a 2-to-1 advantage, with 240,000 to Malaguti's 120,000, as they begin their battle.

And One More Update

And finally, from the only remaining table that is not heads up, we just lost Peter Panos, which means they are down to three-handed on Table #244:

Andreas Hoivold -- 190,000
Shawn Buchanan -- 100,000
Flaminio Malaguti -- 70,000

Some More Updates

Matthew Sterling
Matthew Sterling
On Table #247, Greg "FBT" Mueller has battled back to retake the advantage with 200,000 to Tom Schneider's 160,000.

And on Table #248, Matthew Sterling has 245,000 and Robert Tanniru 115,000.

Some Updates

On Table #250, Ben Ponzio still holds an edge over Millie Shiu, with 230,000 to Shiu's 130,000.

On Table #249, Marc Naalden and Jacob Petersen are about dead even, each with around 180,000 chips.

And on Table #245, Jose Barbero has 205,000 to Johnny Neckar's 155,000.

Tanniru vs. Sterling

Humberto Brenes was just eliminated in third place over on Table #249, leaving Robert Tanniru and Matthew Sterling heads up. Tanniru has a slight chip advantage as they begin, with 185,000 to Sterling's 165,000.

David Williams Moves On to Round 3

David Williams
David Williams
David Williams is the second one through to tomorrow's Round 3.

On the last hand, Michel Halioua raised from the button/small blind, and Williams called. The flop came {3-Spades}{Q-Spades}{2-Spades}. Williams checked, Halioua bet, and Williams called. The turn was the {2-Hearts}. Williams checked, Halioua bet, Williams raised, and Halioua tossed in his last 2,000.

Williams turned over {8-Spades}{4-Spades} for the flopped flush, meaning Halioua was already drawing dead with his {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. Williams moves on.

Joep van den Bijgaart

Ponzio vs. Shiu

Soon after play resumed, a severely short-stacked Kyle Ray was eliminated from Table #250, leaving Ben Ponzio and Millie Shiu heads up.

Ponzio has 240,000 as they begin, while Shiu has 120,000.

We're Back

Cards are in the air. With five of our eight matches at heads up, we should be reporting some winners here soon.

Incidentally, when any WSOP limit event gets down to heads up -- including these one-table, winner-take-all tables in a shootout event -- there can be unlimited raises. It would have to take a special combination of hands, though, for that to come up.
