Noda Spikes His Ace

Jorg Peisert has had an excellent run today, but even he is prone to losing to a thin draw. Peisert opened for 150,000, then snap-called after Michael Noda moved all in. Noda knew he was in trouble with {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs}; Peisert showed {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. Neither player hit the {7-Hearts} {j-Spades} {5-Spades} flop, but Noda spiked an ace with the {A-Hearts} turn. He dragged the pot after the river fell {8-Spades}.

That lucky turn card increased Noda's count to 1.75 million and brought Peisert back to the pack with 3.255 million.

Jason Somerville Eliminated in 5th Place ($103,591)

The shortness of the stacks are forcing much more action now. In a battle of the blinds, Jason Somerville opened all in from the small blind with {K-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}. Jason DeWitt called with {A-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}. When neither player improved, Somerville was off to the cage as the first six-figure winner of this tournament. He will collect $103,591.

DeWitt is back up to 1.8 million cihps.

Gilbert's the One Doubling Now

The short stacks are passing chips around while Jorg Peisert looks for spots to pick them off. Jason DeWitt opened all in from the small blind. Benjamin Gilbert was sitting behind 635,000. He looked down at {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} and pushed his chips in. DeWitt was holding {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}. The card in the window on the flop was the {A-Hearts}, but when the dealer spread the rest of the flop she found a {6-Diamonds} and a {J-Spades} to make a set of jacks for Gilbert. The rest of the board came {2-Spades} and {9-Clubs} to give Gilbert the double-up.

DeWitt is down to 520,000 chips and is now in the Dank Position.

Noda Gets One Back

Recently, every time Jason DeWitt has won a hand, his railbirds have shouted "BOOYAH GRANDMA!" We're not sure why.

DeWitt was not involved in a hand between Michael Noda and Jorg Peisert. Noda raised to 125,000 preflop and Peisert called from the blind. Peisert check-folded to an all in bet on a flop of {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}. He flashed {8-Clubs} {7-Spades} as he mucked.

Gilbert Doubles through Somerville

Jason Somerville opened for 125,000 before Benjamin Gilbert moved all in for 375,000. Somerville called with {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts} against Gilbert's {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts}. Gilbert flopped a lot of outs on a flop of {7-Spades} {2-Spades} {4-Spades}. He bricked the turn {J-Diamonds}, but made a flush with the {Q-Spades} river. He doubled up to 845,000 while Somerville dropped to 815,000.

Michael Katz Eliminated in 6th Place ($79,385)

There's no justice in poker. If there were, the best hand would hold up every time. Michael Katz shoved all in on three of the first four hands after we came back from break. On the fifth hand he shoved again after Jorg Peisert opened for 150,000. Peisert decided to look him up with pocket threes and was really disappointed to see Katz open pocket fours.

Peisert was so agitated he walked ten steps away from the table. That left his rail to sweat the flop, and they were very excited to see a flop of {2-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {3-Spades}. Katz had plenty of outs but missed them all with the turn {8-Diamonds} and river {7-Clubs}. Katz leaves with $79,385 and we are down to five.
