Value Betting Works for Baron

Isaac Baron opened the pot with a mid-position raise to 1,600. One opponent further down the line gave him action, and it was heads up the rest of the way.

The flop came out {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {6-Spades}, and both players checked. When the {8-Diamonds} hit fourth street, Baron led out with another 2,100 chips, and his opponent called. The river card was the {10-Spades}. Baron loaded another bullet and fired 3,900 chips at the pot. After some debate, his opponent made the call. Baron tabled {A-Hearts} {9-Spades}, and it was good enough to win the pot.

Baron is up to 72,000 after that nice little pot.

The Farha Yo-Yo Spins Up

Sammy Farha's still in this year's Main Event but he needed a river two-outer to do it. Farha was all in with {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} against an opponent's {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}. Things looked pretty grim for Farha after a flop of {A-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} and a turn of {K-Diamonds}, but Farha spiked the {7-Spades} on the river to make a set of sevens and overtake his opponent's pair of aces.

"Ooh, good card Sammy," said one of the other players.

"That's not me, is it?" Farha replied with a grin. He's once again sitting behind 40,000 chips.

Cajelais' Worthless Diamonds

Erik Cajelais raised from the button, and the player in the big blind came along to a heads-up flop. It showed up {K-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {2-Spades}, and the big blind checked. Cajelais continued out with a bet of 4,175. His opponent then check-raised all in for 22,225, and Cajelais made the call with the covering stack.

Showdown
Cajelais: {6-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}

The news was no fun for Cajelais as his flush outs were dead, leaving him drawing to a five or a six. The turn and river came {9-Clubs} and {3-Clubs} respectively, and the all-in player notches a double up with his ace kicker.

Cajelais has slipped to 57,000.

Shaun Deeb Eliminated

That's All, Folks
That's All, Folks
A raising war had already broken out when we came upon Shaun Deeb's table. Deeb put in a reraise to 13,275 from late position and Corwin Cole reraised again to 29,750. After tanking for a minute or so, Deeb moved all in for about 60,000 and Cole snap-called.

Deeb {A-Spades} {9-Clubs}
Cole {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}

Deeb turned around and started walking away as soon as he saw the flop come down {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {10-Hearts}. The turn was the {K-Hearts}, the river was the {8-Hearts} and Deeb's Main Event was at an end.

Ahmadian Misses

Elia Ahmadian check-called a bet of 5,000 on a board that read {8-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs}. There was about 9,000 chips in the pot at the time.

The river brought the {7-Diamonds}. Ahmadian paused for a moment, then fired in a bet of 10,000. His opponent immediately called. "I missed." announced Ahmadian. The other player tabled {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} for the winning hand.

Ahmadian is down to 40,000.
