Big Draw Bets Out Garrett

Brad Garrett made it 1,300 to go from late position and both blinds called. The flop came down {8-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {6-Spades} and the small blind fired out 3,375. The big blind folded and Garrett called. When the turn fell the {K-Hearts}, the small blind led again for 6,000.

"Ah! You dog! Just because you have chips. That was a beautiful play," said Garrett as he folded. The small blind showed {4-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}.

Garrett is down to 43,000 in chips.

Mizzi Misses Twice

Sorel Mizzi
Sorel Mizzi
We caught this hand on the turn when the big blind checked to Sorel Mizzi who bet 2,500 from under-the-gun. His opponent min-raised to 5,000 and Mizzi called.

When the turn brought the {A-Spades}, the big blind led for 10,000 and Mizzi folded.

Two hands later, Mizzi was back in action again from the small blind where he check-called a bet of 2,200 after a flop of {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. When the turn paired the board with the {Q-Spades}, Mizzi bet 5,050 and his opponent quickly raised to 14,000.

Mizzi mucked for the second time, bringing his chip stack down to 106,500.

The Mighty Thor Doubles Up

Thor Hansen's last hand went down pretty much as you expect such hands to go down. An opponent opened for 1,700; Hansen reraised to 5,500. The opponent put in the third raise to 16,000, then called when Hansen moved all in for 36,000.

Before the cards were on their backs, Hansen's opponent seemed to know he was probably beat. "I like your hand," he told Hansen.

"Me too," Hansen replied. He showed {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}. His opponent showed {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} and never improved.

Hansen is up to 77,000.

Judah Bad-Beated Right Out the Door

Those massive overbets for value are great when they work out. And Mel Judah's massive overbet for value got exactly the result he wanted -- but in the end it backfired to knock him out of the Main Event. With 8,000 chips in the pot, Judah and two others checked a flop of {9-Spades} {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}. The turn came {6-Diamonds}. Two players checked to Judah, who moved all in for 37,000!

Judah's large bet induced one fold, but the second player called. Judah showed down a full house, {6-Hearts} {6-Spades}. His opponent just had a pocket pair, {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}. You know how the story ends. Judah's opponent catches one of his four outs with a river {A-Spades} to make a bigger full house. It was a great play by Judah that didn't wind up with the right result. He is busto.

Viva Vitaly

Vitaly Lunkin
Vitaly Lunkin
With the board reading {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} on the turn, Vitaly Lunkin led out for 3,500 from late position. The button raised to 8,300 and Lunkin came back with a three-bet to 18,500. It was enough to induce a fold from the button and Lunkin took down the pot, increasing his stack to 120,500.

A Flesh Wound for Soulier

We caught up with the action after a flop of {4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} when both blinds checked to Fabrice Soulier, who checked behind from the button.

The turn brought the {8-Hearts} and a bet of 8,000 from the small blind. The big blind folded and Soulier came along. The small blind bet another 2,000 when the {3-Hearts} landed on the river, and Soulier called again. He mucked his hand when the small blind showed {J-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for the straight.

Soulier still has a very healthy stack of 136,000.

A Happy Family Pot for Scott

Kara Scott
Kara Scott
All nine players at Kara Scott's limped into the pot and saw a flop of {A-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Action folded to Scott in middle position and she led out for 3,000. That was enough to scare everyone else away and Scott now has 80,000.

Cajelais Crushed

Erik Cajelais - Out
Erik Cajelais - Out
Erik Cajelais and big stack Samer Rahman have been tangling all day, and it finally made it to the breaking point. In a heads-up pot, the two men saw the flop come down {A-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {10-Clubs}. After a betting war, Cajelais ended up all in for about 30,000. Rahman was right there to look him up, making the call to put his opponent to the test.

Showdown
Cajelais: {A-Spades} {3-Spades}
Rahman: {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}

Cajelais was in big trouble, out-kicked and two cards from elimination. The turn {6-Spades} changed nothing, and the {K-Diamonds} that hit the river spells the end of the Main Event for Erik Cajelais.

Rahman, on the other hand, can do no wrong today. He's up to a very healthy 325,000.

Eating Crowe

Owen Crowe seemed a little steamed after a recent hand in which Crowe doubled up an opponent. That opponent checked a {4-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {10-Spades} flop to Crowe, then called a bet of 1,200. When an ace hit the turn, {A-Diamonds}, Crowe's opponent led into him for 3,000. Crowe raised that bet to 8,000 and was called.

The river fell {8-Clubs}. Crowe's opponent made a very weak lead of 2,000. Crowe moved all in, having his opponent well covered. The effective raise back was 18,000 more. Crowe's opponent tanked and then called with {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. Crowe snap-mucked and paid off the bet. He's down to 64,000 as a result.
