Eolis Exits

Before the flop, Mike Sexton came in with a raise to 1,800. Wendeen Eolis three-bet it up to 5,000, and Sexton made the call. Eolis would get the rest of her chips in on a flop showing {J-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {A-Hearts}, and Sexton was right there to put her at risk of elimination.

Showdown
Sexton: {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}
Eolis: {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}

Sexton was ahead with his top set, but Eolis was drawing to the nut flush and a possible backdoor straight. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn left her dead to a heart, and the {J-Clubs} on the river was the wrong color. Failing to improve, Wendeen Eolis wished her table luck and made her way out the door.

Ford Gets His Chips in Knowing He's Beat

Jon Ford was eliminated from the Main Event in a fashion unusual from most eliminations -- he knew exactly what his opponent had and called anyway.

Ford's opponent opened for 2,000 preflop and called Ford's late-position reraise to 6,700. There was lots of action on the {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} flop. Ford's opponent checked, then check-raised Ford from 8,400 to 20,000. Ford put in the third bet, re-raising to 51,000.

Ford's opponent called and, thinking Ford was all in, opened his hand to show {10-?} {10-?}, top set. Ford actually had 18,000 left behind. Those chips went in when the turn came {9-Hearts} to give Ford an up-and-down straight draw to go with his flush draw. Ford missed everything on the {2-Spades} river and is now out.

Ahmadian's Bet Gets a Set to Fold

We passed by one of the tables over in the green section while the ESPN cameras were busy rolling on a hand between Matt Gianetti, Christian Dragomir, and Elia Ahmadian. The board read {10-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {4-Diamonds} and the pot sat at approximately 20,000.

Gianetti checked first, followed by Dragomir. Ahmadian took his time and then laid out a bet of 15,000. Gianetti folded rather quickly, but Dragomir was sure to spice things up a little for the cameras.

He took off his headphones and said something along the lines of, "The cameras are here, we can show them." Then, he showed pocket sevens and folded, folding a set of sevens.

A World-Class Lay Down

We caught a hand between three unknown players in the orange section.

After a round of preflop bets and raises, the player under-the-gun moved all in for his last 9,850. When the player in middle position re-shoved for a total of 51,425, action moved back to the small blind who went deep into the tank.

"You've got to have aces," he said before mucking his {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} face up. He was right, as the middle position player showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and the player under-the-gun showed the {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}.

When the board came {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, the aces made a better house and the player under-the-gun was eliminated while the small blind dodged some pretty big bullets.

Greg Raymer Interview

Greg Raymer is certainly no stranger to the spotlight, and that's where he finds himself today, under the bright lights of the featured table. During the earlier break, Melissa Castello caught up with FossilMan to quickly chat about how his day is going so far and the similarities between this year and his title run in 2004. Check it out:

The Funny Man Takes One

Brad Garrett called a preflop raise of 1,350 from a player in middle position out of the big blind. The flop came down {10-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} and both Garrett and his opponent checked.

The turn brought the {2-Clubs} and Garrett checked again. His opponent bet 2,200. Garrett made the call.

The river was the {8-Hearts} and both players checked. Garrett tabled {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} and moved up to 50,000 chips after his opponent showed {A-Spades} {5-Clubs}.

Duthie Down to 20,000

After a flop of {K-Spades} {J-Hearts} {7-Hearts} a player in middle position bet out 2,500 and EPT founder, John Duthie, called from late position.

The turn was the {4-Spades} and again the player in middle position bet, this time for 5,600. Duthie matched the bet.

The river brought the {A-Hearts} and after a 10,000 bet, Duthie raised to 30,000.

Duthie's opponent made the call and turned over {5-Hearts} {3-Hearts} for a flush. Duthie mucked and is now down to 20,000.

Williams Stays Alive

Jeff Williams moved his last 10,000 into the pot preflop and got one caller.

Williams: {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Opponent: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

Williams looked like he was on his way out the door as the board ran {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, but the {A-Hearts} on the river gave him new life. He's now got a stack of 22,000.

Rios Doubles

Jesse Rios
Jesse Rios
Jesse Rios got all in against one opponent after a flop of {A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

Rios: {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Button: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

Rios paired when the {6-Diamonds} hit the turn and made his flush when the river brought the {4-Hearts}. His stack is now worth 33,000.

Seidel Chips Up

Erik Seidel opened the pot from middle position with a raise to 1,700. Keven Stammen called from the button, and the two men went heads up the rest of the way.

The flop showed up {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} {2-Spades}, and Seidel continued out with a bet of 2,200. Stammen called, and the turn card brought the {3-Hearts}. Seidel checked this time, and Stammen checked behind him. The last card off the deck was the {2-Diamonds}. Seidel passed again, and Stammen took the opportunity to bet 4,100. Seidel was having none of it though, putting in a check-raise to 15,000. Stammen mulled it over for a minute before sending his cards to the muck

Seidel has been bumped up to 44,000.
