Bechtel Doubles the Hard Way

Jim Bechtel got all of his chips in on a flop of {J-Spades} {10-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} holding {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. He was in a bad position when he was called by an opponent holding {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}. It was no problem for Bechtel as he caught running diamonds, {3-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}, to make a diamond flush and double up to 71,000.

Matusow Just Can't Catch a Break

Since it seems likely that we may not have the privilege of Mike "the Mouth" Matusow's table talk much longer, we stationed a reporter at his table to see what the talkative Matusow might have to say after dinner.

"14 hours of play and I've won two pots at showdown," Matusow complained to Greg "FBT" Mueller. "And one of 'em was a limped pot that I won with three-four. Now that's impressive."

Mueller laughed.

"I'm serious," continued Matusow. "Two people limped. I was in the big blind and it checked the whole way down. The board was 7-10-J-3-5 and I won with three-four."

Nobody else at Matusow's table is shedding many tears that his stack contains only 10,600 remaining chips.

Schneider Steamrolls Brunson

We must have missed something at Pam Brunson's table just after the players got back from dinner break. She raised her button to 2,000, then called a reraise to 7,400 from small blind Tom "DonkeyBomber" Schneider. Schneider bet 9,000 on a flop of {5-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}.

"Are you steaming?" Brunson asked. "I have a hand."

Schneider made no response. He was awarded the pot when Brunson laid down her hand. His count is about 140,000, while Brunson has about 57,000.

No Dinner Coma

The players are back in action with full bellies, and it seems like there's no time to be wasted. "All in and a call," has already been heard at least a dozen times around the Amazon Room in just about seven minutes of action.

Ship it to Ireland

A late position player raised to 2,000, the cutoff reraised to 4,200, Andy Black flat-called on the button and the initial raiser folded.

The flop came down {10-Hearts} {7-Spades} {3-Spades}. The cutoff led out for 8,625, Black moved all in and the cutoff called.

Black's pocket jacks led his opponent's {A-Hearts} {10-Spades}. The turn was the {4-Hearts} and Black even spiked a set on the river with the {J-Hearts} for good measure and took down the pot, taking his stack up to 164,000.
