Kili Madrid Sent to the Mat

A player in late position opened the pot with a raise to 1,900. Karec Terrell was next to act, and he called the raise. From the small blind, the undefeated former pro boxer Kili Madrid opted to make a reraise to 4,600. Both opponents came along with the call.

Three handed then, the flop came out {10-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}. Madrid continued out with a bet of 12,000, which was enough to fold the original raiser. Terrell was not so easily pacified though. He began to cut raising chips out of his stack, and he dumped 31,000 of them into the pot. Madrid shrugged and dumped the remaining ~40,000 of his own chips into the pot. Terrell quickly called the extra few thousand to put his opponent at risk.

Madrid rolled over {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} for the overpair, but Terrell tabled {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades}, having flopped a lucky set. The dealer waited for the film crew to arrive at the table before dealing the river card: {8-Hearts}. No drama there. Terrell's set holds, and he has sent Madrid to the showers.

The Cub Gets Some Chips Back

Sebok's hit a slight rough patch lately, but things may be looking up
Sebok's hit a slight rough patch lately, but things may be looking up
An older gentleman from early position jacked up the action to 3,000. Everyone folded around to Joe Sebok in the small blind and he made the call. The big blind folded.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {4-Hearts} and Sebok checked. His opponent wasn't goofing around with his 10,000-chip bet. Sebok took his time and then made the call.

The turn brought the {J-Spades} and Sebok checked again. "Same bet," announced the player as he tossed out 10,000. Sebok again called.

The river was the {10-Clubs} and both players checked. The older gentleman tabled {A-?} {K-?}, which was no good to Sebok's {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. With that pot, Sebok is now back up to 98,000.

What's Going On?

We're not sure if the average stack has once again become sufficiently large to slow down play or if the players are finally starting to feel the aftereffects of dinner, but there has been a noticeable slowdown in action throughout the Orange section. That's not to say that tables aren't being broken -- we've broken twelve tables out of Orange so far -- just that there isn't much happening in the way of substantive action involving notable players or big stacks. Even the ESPN camera crews are flailing about, looking for something interesting to film.

Andrew Gaw Building a Stack

Three players saw a flop of {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {2-Spades}. A player in early position checked and a player behind bet 11,800. Andrew Gaw called from the cut-off and the other player got out of the way.

The turn brought a third club with the {10-Clubs}. The player in middle position checked and Gaw bet 35,000 - almost enough to cover his opponent.

Gaw took it down with the high presure bet and is now at 257,000.

Seidel Slips

With the board reading {10-Hearts} {7-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {K-Hearts} on the river, Erik Seidel checked from the big blind, his opponent bet 8,000 into the 24,000 pot and Seidel made the call.

Seidel mucked at the sight of his opponent's {K-?} {Q-?} and is down to 13,700 in chips.

Scott Plays Power Poker

Kara Scott
Kara Scott
Four players saw a flop of {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and action checked to Kara Scott, who bet 5,000 from the button. The small blind folded and the big blind took some time before check-raising to 15,000.

The third player folded and action moved back to Scott, who tanked for nearly a minute before calling. When her opponent checked the {3-Spades} on the turn, Scott bet 20,000. It would cost her opponent almost all his remaining chips to call, and he decided to lay his hand down.

Scott is up to 91,000 after the hand.

Pickering Eliminated

We were all set to follow Jamie Pickering to his new table, but he busted on one of the last hands before his table was broken. Joe Sebok started the action by raising to 2,300 from early position. One player called before Jamie Pickering reraised to 6,000 from the big blind. Sebok and the third player both called.

The flop came {7-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}. Pickering had first action and bet 12,000. That was enough to fold Sebok, but the third player called again. On the {3-Diamonds} turn, Pickering moved all in for 23,000. His opponent double-fist-pump-snap-called with the nuts, {5-Spades} {6-Spades}. That left Pickering's pocket pair, {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}, drawing dead. He is eliminated.

Four Fours Just Enough for Smith

On table 47, there was just an all in between two players, one holding pocket fours and one holding pocket tens. The board ran out uneventfully to hold the pocket tens and eliminate the player with the underpair.

Just seconds later, we heard, "All in and a call on Table 152," which is directly across the isle from the other table. Wandering over there, we see a battle of the blinds with fours and tens again. The small blind had {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} and he had raised to open the pot. From the big blind, Kenneth Smith moved all in with {4-Spades} {4-Hearts}, and his opponent quickly made the call with the covering stack.

This time though, the board would run out in more interesting fashion. Right in the door came the {4-Clubs}, and the dealer paused for a beat with just that one card visible before rolling out the flop of {4-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}! The {J-Clubs} on the turn would end the hand, and the {10-Clubs} that hit the river was too little too late for the small blind. With his crucial quad fours, Smith has doubled up to about 40,000.

Garrett Doubles Up An Opponent

Brad Garrett had an opponent on the ropes with {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts}. The player held {9-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}. As the ESPN cameras rushed on over to catch the action, Garrett began going into his normal comedic self. The player looked worried and Garrett's antics and jokes seemed to ease him and settle him down.

The flop came down {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {3-Spades} and Garrett said, "Look! There ya go!"

The turn brought the {7-Clubs} and Garret began yelling for a king. His pleas were not fufilled as the river fell the {4-Hearts}. It was only a small hit to his stack though, as Garret dropped to 58,000.
