Break

The players are on their last 20-minute break of the evening. Be back shortly to wrap up the day with the final level.

Eastgate Moved And Still In Charge

Moving tables hasn't stopped the previous year's champion with Peter Eastgate quickly dispatching of yet another opponent.

Eastgate called his opponent's all in holding {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} to be in a race against {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} to see Eastgate send another to the rail as he climbed to 370,000 in chips.

Morgan Making Moves

Jordan Morgan opened the pot with an under the gun raise, and the action folded around to the blinds. The player in the big blind reraised, Morgan moved all in, and his opponent called for his tournament life.

Morgan showed down pocket aces, and he was looking for the kill against his opponent's two tens. The board ran out full of blanks, and Morgan is up close to 700,000 now.

Brady Makes a Good Call

From the hijack seat, Matt Brady raised to 5,500 and found one caller on the button. Everyone else folded and the flop came down {5-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {3-Hearts}. Brady checked and his opponent checked.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} and both players checked again.

The river brought the {10-Diamonds} and Brady tapped the table once more. His opponent tossed out a bet of 16,000. Brady paused and then made the call.

"Good call." said the player before Brady turned over {6-Spades} {3-Spades} for two pair, but a very low two pair. His opponent mucked and Brady is up to 176,000.

After the hand, Brady chatted with one of our reporters and let him know that he was up to around 230,000 at one point, but lost a big chunk set over set on a {J-?} {9-?}-X board. Brady held pocket nines and his opponent pocket jacks. Somehow, Brady was able to lose what he deemed to be the minimum when he should have gone broke.

Koral Clips Ivey

Tom Koral (From day 2)
Phil Ivey opened the action to 6,500 from middle position. Tom 'Tommyboy83' Koral made the call from the big blind.

The flop fell {A-Spades} {4-Spades} {3-Spades} . Koral check called a bet of 8,000 from Ivey. The turn was the {5-Hearts} . Koral would check call another bet of 20,000 from Mr. Ivey. The river trickled the {10-Spades}. Koral checked, Ivey counted out 45,000 from his stack, but after thinking for a minute decided to check.

Koral tabled {5-Spades} {5-Diamonds} and Ivey mucked. Tommyboy is up to 255,000.

Cheung Chooses to Check

A player under the gun raised to 6,200, and Robert Cheung, sitting to his left, reraised to 12,500. It folded back around and the original raiser called.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. The UTG player checked, Cheung bet 18,500, and his opponent called. Both then checked the {9-Clubs} turn. The {A-Hearts} came on the river. Cheung's opponent checked, and he thought a bit before checking as well.

Cheung showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}, and his opponent mucked. Cheung has 245,000.

Phillips Gifted

Dennis Phillips raised his small blind to 7,000, only for the gent in the big blind to make an unlikely shove for 86,100. Call.

Phillips: {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs}
Unnecessary Shover: {7-Clubs} {7-Spades}

Board: a completely blank {Q-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {6-Clubs}

The big blind is bust, and Phillips is up to 430,000.

Back to Back Winners for Eastgate

Peter Eastgate
Peter Eastgate
We caught big, back-to-back hands with last year's Main Event winner, Peter Eastgate.

In the first hand, we picked up the action on the turn when Shaun Craig bet 37,000 on a board of {4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Eastgate immediate raised all in for another 16,000 and Craig didn't want to call even though he was priced into the pot. Eventually, he put his chips in and the hands were shown.

Craig: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Eastgate: {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The river brought the {9-Hearts} and gave Craig two pair, but it wasn't enough against Eastgate's trip 7s. That hand brought Eastgate to 370,000.

On the very next hand, Eastgate raised the price of poker to 8,000 from middle position and the big blind shoved all in for 22,000. Eastgate called and we were off again.

Eastgate: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

When the board ran {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, both players had straights, but Eastgate notched his opponent by rivering Broadway. He now has 400,000.

Party Time

You know, it's not all about the poker here at the WSOP. Every now and then there's a decent party in Las Vegas with, say, an open bar, elaborate ice sculptures, scantily-clad female acrobats, smoke and fire machines, scores of celebrities, and a performance by Nelly. Last night, that party was at Rain, the nightclub just across the street at the Palms. A huge conglomerate of stars came out for the festivities, and Gloria Balding was on the red carpet with her trusty microphone. Check out her view in the latest edition of Off the Felt:

The Table 43 War Continues

Phil Hellmuth opened the pot to 5,000 and was met with three callers; including Alexander Kostritsyn from the button and Josh Arieh out of the small blind.

The flop fell down {3-Spades}{K-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Arieh checked before Hellmuth fired 16,000 at the pot. He managed one fold, but both Kostritsyn and Arieh came along for the ride.

Both the turn and river were checked through when it came the {8-Clubs} and {4-Hearts}.

"Four!" announced Arieh as he tabled his {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

"I can beat that" stated Kostritsyn as he kept his cards capped tightly with both hands.

"I got a five buddy" said Hellmuth, before mucking at the sight of Kostritsyn's {7-Clubs}{7-Spades} to see him rake the pot and move to 632,000 in chips.
