Jurgens Stays Alive

Tad Jurgens open-jammed for his remaining 3,600 from the cutoff and Tommy Hang made the call from the big blind.

Jurgens drew one with his {9-}{8-}{7-}{4-} while Hang stood pat with his {J-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}.

"Four across" stated Jurgens as he tried to squeeze out a ten to stay alive.

Fortunately for him it was the {10-Hearts} to keep him alive and back up to 9,000 as Hang slipped to just 7,000 in chips.

Sigi's Stock Doubles

Josh Arieh had built up again after doubling Derric Haynie when he got involved in another big pot. Sigi Stockinger moved all in under the gun for 6,975. Arieh then came over the top, shoving for a total of 13,475. Scott Seiver asked for a count of both stacks before folding, saying, "You guys are real lucky I don't know how to play this game."

Stockinger stood pat, and Arieh dropped a {10-} to draw to an {8-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Stockinger showed {9-}{8-}{5-}{3-}{2-}, meaning Arieh needed a nine, seven, six, or five to eliminate him. "It's three across," he said, peeling it slowly. But he flipped over an {8-} to double Sigi up to 15,150. Arieh is back down to 6,500.

Seiver said he had Arieh's exact same five-card hand before the draw.

Ciao Dario

Dario Minieri
Dario Minieri

From the hijack Ted Forrest moved all in for his last 9,025 and Daro Minieri made the call from the big blind for his tournament life.

Both players drew one with Minieri having the slight advantage holding {8-}{7-}{4-}{2-} against Forrest's {9-}{7-}{6-}{4-}.

Forrest spiked a {K-}, but unfortunately for Minieri he caught an {A-} to see himself sent to the rail as Forrest climbs to over 20,000 in chips.

Haynie Cripples Arieh

Derric Haynie open-shoved from the button for his last 9,900, and Josh Arieh called him in the big blind. Haynie drew one, and Arieh stood pat, tabling {9-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Hanyie was drawing to a {6-}{5-}{3-}{2-}. "It's not looking good for me," he said when he saw Arieh's hand. But Haynie pulled a {9-} to best Arieh and double up to 22,000. Arieh was dropped down 5,575.

Ta-Ta Tang

Gary Tang
Gary Tang

Gary Tang opened to 2,200 from under the gun and Scott Seiver three-bet all in for his last 24,550.

After deliberating for several minutes, Tang made the call for his last 22,800 and drew one after Seiver stood pat.

Seiver tabled his {10-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{4-} while Tang discarded a {10-} to have a draw with {9-}{7-}{3-}{2-}.

Unfortunately for Tang he paired up with a {3-} and consequently hit the rail as Seiver climbs to over 48,000 in chips.

Desperate Berman

Craig Hartman opened to 1,600 and with the action on Lyle Berman in the big blind, he moved all in for 10,200.

As Hartman pondered a decision, Berman uttered, "there ain't no shame in folding."

Eventually Hartman did fold to see Berman rake in the pot.

"Desperate men do desperate things" added Berman as he folded the {Q-Clubs} face up to take the pot.

Gelencser Gets Caught

Action folded to Peter Gelencser in the small blind, and he raised to 2,525. Yan Chen called in the big blind. Gelencser traded in two cards, and Chen asked for one. Then Gelencser bet out 4,250. Chen called the suspicious bet and tabled {q-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}, which was good enough to win the sizable pot. With those chips, Chen moved up to 32,000 and Gelencser fell to 34,500.
