That's A Wrap!

Dave Sands, safely through to Day 2 action
Dave Sands, safely through to Day 2 action

That was a crazy game of poker...!

We started the day with the massive Pavillion Room packed to the rafters with people overflowing into the Amazon Room as 1,663 players turned out for some fast-paced, short-handed poker. There's no doubt that the players enjoy this format, and it certainly makes for entertaining viewing as evident by the rapid pace of eliminations throughout the day.

We saw some great poker, with plenty of big hands and big moves as players did their best to accumulate a big stack. After starting the day with just 4,500, it was Roger Teska who made a late surge to emerge as our likely overnight chip leader with 221,000 chips. We'll have the full updated counts for you shortly.

Other notables to survive the day include Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri, Dave Sands, Bryan Micon, Vincent Van Der Fluit, Eric Buchman, Mark Seif, Steve Yea, Matt Hawrilenko, Jordan Morgan, JP Kelly, André Akkari and 2007 World Champ Jerry Yang.

146 players survived through to Day 2 action and they'll rest easy tonight knowing that they are safely in the money. They'll be back tomorrow afternoon at 2:30pm for Day 2 of this event as we look to play down to a final table. We look forward to your company then!
