Perry Gets the Bell

There was just less than 20,000 in the pot when we walked up to a flop of {Q-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}. Ralph Perry checked to Chris Bell, and he put out a bet of 15,000. Perry only had about 10,000 left in his stack and he made the call all in. Cards on their backs:

Perry: {9-Hearts} {9-Spades}
Bell: {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and the river the {10-Diamonds}, and that was not any help for Perry. Bell knocks him out, moving his stack up to 56,000 in the process.

O'Brien Out

Dan O'Brien was all in for 6,200 before the flop with {10-Diamonds} {J-Spades}, and he was behind but drawing live for a double up against an opponent's {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}.

The {9-Spades} {2-Clubs} {6-Hearts} flop didn't really change much, but the {A-Hearts} turn sure did, and not the river {3-Clubs} nor any other river card was enough to save O'Brien from elimination.

Like the proverbial trout, O'Brien is out.

Mizzi Loses One

Sorel Mizzi raised it up and was then faced with a three-bet of an additional 2,100. The table folded around and Mizzi made the call.

They took a flop of {Q-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn was a repeat {Q-Diamonds} and Mizzi checked, then called the bet of 4,000 from his opponent.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and both players tapped the table. Mizzi showed {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} but his opponent held {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for top pair which was good. Mizzi slips to 23,000.

Chino Jumps Straight In After Dinner

We approached the table of Chino Rheem to see him check-raising his opponent's bet of 1,800 to add an extra 4,500 to the bet on a flop of {A-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

His opponent deliberated for several minutes before announcing a re-raise of an additional 6,200. It was back on Rheem and he raised it up again as he moved all in! His opponent very quickly gave it up and Rheem moves up to 60,000.

Dinner Bell

Believe it or not, six full levels have come and gone here in Event #17. That means it's time for a 90-minute dinner break as the 500-or-so remaining players file out the door.

We'll be back at 8:15 p.m. to pick up the last four levels of action for the day.

Friedman Will Enjoy His Dinner

Perry Friedman is going to enjoy his dinner after sending a short-stacked opponent to the rail. Friedman called a re-raise preflop and spiked a set as all the chips went into the middle. His opponent held pocket sevens and Friedman improved to quads on the river. He's up to 55,000.
