Less for Moorman

Chris Moorman
Chris Moorman

Following an opening raise to 1,100, then a reraise to 2,800, Chris Moorman shoved all in from the button for approximately 14,000 total. Then the small blind called the all in, going all in himself for 10,300. The other two got out, and the small blind showed {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Moorman tabled {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}, and was in need of some help.

The board was decidedly unhelpful for Moorman, however, coming {K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. Moorman tumbles down to 4,000.

Confusing Hellmuth

Under the gun, Shawn Keller opened to 1,050, and he found calls from James Weekes, an unknown player, and Perry Friedman on the button. Action came to small blind Phil Hellmuth, and he stacked out a squeezy reraise to 6,050 total. That drew a quick fold from Keller, but Weekes was not deterred. He promptly moved all in for the low low price of 19,775 on top. That folded everyone back to Hellmuth and cued the table talk with dozens of spectators right on the rail next to him.

"Wow, what in the world does he have?!" Hellmuth wondered, his inner monologue not functioning again. Finally, he made the call to put Weekes at risk for his tournament life.

Weekes turned up {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, and Hellmuth angrily tabled {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}. "That's a sick play, man," Keller said.

Hellmuth astutely noted, "Wow, I got it in with the worst hand."

The worst hand would stay the worst on a board of {A-Hearts} {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}, and Weekes has doubled up close to 55,000.

Hellmuth is down to 19,000, and he took a few seconds for Twitter after the hand: Hit $50,000 in chips, then made a misstep for 19k w A-Q (vs A-K, he slow played), and lost 13k w top pair...still have 20k...

Sung Crippled

Four limpers and David Baker in the big blind saw a cheap flop of {Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Baker checked to Steve Sung in early position who fired 1,000. Owen Crowe folded, an unknown player in middle position called, as did Justin Smith as Baker let it go.

The turn was the {5-Spades} and Sung fired another 3,400 and again both opponents made the call. The river was a dangerous {A-Spades} and Sung checked to the middle position player who released a hefty 6,500. Smith folded but Sung made the call. His opponent showed {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a straight as Sung mucked and fell to just 1,700 in chips.

Rousso Out

Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso

Vanessa Rousso has been eliminated from the tournament. We're unsure of the details but Rousso was short and she ran her pocket tens into her opponent's pocket queens.

Jamie Comes Up Rosen

We walked up to the table just as the turn card came out on a board of {2-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {8-Hearts}. There was about 6,000 in the pot, and Jamie Rosen checked first to act. Chino Rheem fired a bet of close to 4,000, and a third player in the pot moved all in for 16,000 total. Back on Rosen now, and he moved all in himself, pushing about 16,000 chips into the middle. That got the message through to Chino, and he ducked out.

Rosen showed {K-Hearts} {5-Hearts}, and his opponent simply walked away from the table. His cards were never exposed, the river {Q-Clubs} filled out the board, and Rosen knocks out a player to move to 47,000 in the chip counts.

Jumpin' Joe Doubles Up

Joe Cada
Joe Cada

We arrived at the table to find 2009 World Champion and Team PokerStars Pro Joe Cada all in with his opponent in the tank. There was about 8,000 in the middle and 7,625 in front of Cada. After a few minutes of thought, the lure of busting the champ was just too much as he made the call.

Cada: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Opponent: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

The race was on but Cada spiked an ace on the {8-Hearts}{A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs} board to double through. He's now up to around 23,000 and back in business.

DW Declines Duel with Dwan

David Williams opened with a raise to 2,650, then Tom "durrrr" Dwan reraised all in, forcing a fold from Williams.

Afterwards, Dwan let Williams choose one of his hole cards to turn over. He did, and Dwan showed the {A-Diamonds}. Dwan is sitting with 26,000 at present, while Williams has 38,000.

Kim Knockout

Kelly Kim was just now all in before the flop for his last 7,000 with {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and found himself up against an opponent with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}.

The flop wasn't pretty for Kim -- {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. The turn was the {8-Clubs}, which didn't really help Kim, either. The river brought the {J-Diamonds}, giving Kim a straight, but also giving his opponent Broadway.

Kim hits the rail. The total players remaining has bobbed down to 420.

Lunkin's Easy Ace

In early position, Vitaly Lunkin opened to 1,000, and Annette Obrestad three-bet to 2,700 from the hijack seat. Lunkin called, and the two players took a flop of {A-Spades} {2-Clubs} {2-Hearts}. Lunkin check-called a bet of 2,000 there, and the two of them check-checked the turn {9-Clubs} and river {8-Hearts}.

Lunkin showed up {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}, and that was plenty good. He scoops the pot, moving to 21,400 and pushing Obrestad back down under 20,000.
