Oppenheim Flexes Muscle On Bubble

No Limit Holdem

Allen Bari raised it up to 36,000 before David Oppenheim popped it an additional 125,000 from the small blind. Bari responded with a four-bet, adding another 208,000 to his opponent's bet. However Oppenheim didn't slow down, as he moved all in to put Bari to a decision for all of his chips.

Bari instantly gave it up as Oppenheim displays some power poker on the bubble to climb to 1.6 million. Bari slips to 700,000.

Bubble Time!

We're now officially on the biggest money bubble at the World Series of Poker. Just 17 players remain. One of which will have the dubious honor of being "bubble boy", as the remaining 16 will have 98,330 reasons to celebrate.

Play is now hand-for-hand across our three tables. As we type there is a big crowd and a big hand going down on one of the far tables. Stay tuned for details...

Singer's Swan Song

David Singer
David Singer

Stud

David Singer ({K-Spades})({2-Spades}) / {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}
Mikael Thuritz ({Q-Diamonds})({8-Spades}) / {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}

Here's what David Singer and Mikael Thuritz's boards looked like on fifth street after Singer committed the last of his chips with a king-high flush and Thuritz made the call with a pair of queens. Thuritz, however, caught the {7-Diamonds} on sixth street and the {6-Diamonds} on seventh to make an ace-high flush and sent Singer to the rail three spots short of the money.

Seidel Succumbs

Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

Stud

Erik Seidel's run in the $50,000 Poker Player's Championship has fallen agonizingly short of the cash after he was just eliminated from the event.

It started off well for Seidel with aces in the hole and a raise on third before all the chips were in on fourth street against Vladimir Schmelev. Here's how the boards ran out:

Schmelev: ({10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}) {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} ({K-Diamonds})
Seidel: ({A-Clubs}{A-Spades}) {5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{8-Clubs} ({8-Spades})

Schmelev caught trips on fourth street which was enough to collect the pot and send Seidel to the rail. Schmelev is up to 1.24 million.

James Van Alstyne Eliminated

James Van Alstyne
James Van Alstyne

Stud 8/b

Allen Bari (X)(X) / {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{A-Spades} / (X)
James Van Alstyne (X)(X) / {8-Spades}{J-Spades}{4-Clubs}{J-Hearts} / (X)
Alexander Kostriysyn (X)(X) / {7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} / (X)

Allen Bari completed on third street, James Van Alstyne called all-in and Alexander Kostritsyn called as well. Bari and Kostritsyn continued betting on the side while Van Alstyne awaited his fate.

Bari led out on fourth and fifth streets and Kostritsyn called in both spots. Kostritsyn bet sixth street and Bari called. Same story on the river.

Kostritsyn showed 7-5-4-3-2 for low, Bari won the high with a pair of kings and Van Alstyne hit the rail in 20th place.
