Big Stacks Clash

Drew Crawford and Nancy Todd Tyner are two of our resident chip leaders here in Event #3, and they are both sitting at the same table.

In a recent hand between the two, the board read {K-Spades}{J-Spades}{A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. Crawford led for 20,000 from the small blind and Todd Tyner made the call.

Crawford opened {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for a full-house and Todd Tyner mucked her hand. The 60,000 chip pot was pushed to Crawford increasing his stack to 230,000 chips. Todd Tyner dropped to 161,000 chips.

Heater for Markholt

After a previous triple-up, Lee Markholt just doubled-up to push his stack to 70,000 chips. Markholt got it in with aces against an opponent's {A-}{Q-} prelop and held.

Markholt has septupled his stack in almost ten minutes time.

Redemption on the River

Deepak Bhatti was all-in preflop against an opponent when we reached his table and the hands were already opened:

Bhatti: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Opponent: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The flop brought {K-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} and a set of sevens for Bhatti's opponent. The {5-Diamonds} on the turn was a blank, but the {J-Diamonds} on the river made the table erupt!

Bhatti had the best hand when the money went in, and after it was all said and finished he raked in the 60,000 chip pot to push his stack above 120,000 chips.

Triple Up for Markholt

There had already been a raise to 11,000 and a call before Lee Markholt called all in for 9,100. The three players, one all in, went to the flop.

Flop: {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

The preflop caller moved all in, the original raiser folded, and the players still in the hand flipped their cards over.

Markholt: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Flop Shover: he showed, but it was all swept in rather quickly and we rather missed it; either way it couldn't beat Markholt's hand following the turn...

Turn: {9-Hearts}

River: {8-Hearts}

Markholt tripled up to 35,000.

Bad Beat for Aguiar

After three-betting and taking a 40,000 chip pot down preflop a few hands prior, Jonathan Aguiar re-raised an opponent with {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} from the small blind. His opponent four-bet shoved on the button and Aguiar snapped it off.

His opponent tabled {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and right in the middle of the flop was the {J-Spades} accompanied by both the {Q-Hearts} and {3-Diamonds}. Aguiar couldn't find a king on the turn ({4-Clubs}) or the river ({6-Hearts}) and saw his stack fall to 60,000.

The Master Avoids Disaster

While waiting for his cocktail, Men "The Master" Nguyen opened to 5,500 from middle position and a player behind three-bet to 14,000. Another player moved all-in for 33,400 and action folded back to Nguyen who painstakingly folded.

The player stuck in between them called and tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The player who shoved had {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} The Master flashed his hole cards and they were ace-king suited.

The flop fell {K-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Nguyen was quite upset. The {J-Spades} on the turn was a brick, but the {Q-Hearts} slammed on the river solidifying the suck and re-suck.

The Master chose not to gamble in that spot, and the decision paid off.

It's Beer O'Clock

Are you in the Amazon Room? Do you have a headache?

Well it's not going to get any better, because the already voluble Men Nguyen has just ordered what we think is his first drink of the day. We expect the overall volume of this tournament to increase by at least a few decibels when the beer arrives.
