Ivey Chops to Stay Alive

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Pot-Limit Hold'em

Phil Ivey just came back to the tournament after busting out of the $5,000 event which you can read about here. He wasn't happy about it and you could see the anger on his face about busting the other event.

After Tom Hu raised to 3,300, Ivey jammed his entire stack into the middle for about 16,000. Hu made the call and held two sevens. Ivey held the {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}.

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and as soon as the river card hit, Ivey yelled out, "Hey hey! Let's just take our money back!"

The turn was the {10-Hearts} and the river the {J-Diamonds} and Shklover won the pot. He was the player all in on the hand for 49,800 on the flop. Paredes shipped the chips over and was left with just 32,100.

MacPhee Busts Grigsby

Pot-Limit Hold'em

From under the gun, Franklin Grigsby raised to 4,000. Action folded around to Kevin MacPhee in the small blind after that and he reraised to 13,600. Grigsby moved all in after a few moments in the tank and MacPhee called.

MacPhee held the {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Grigsby held the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

It was an interesting flop of {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}, giving Grigsby a flush draw. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and the river the {K-Diamonds}. Both of those were no help for Grigsby and he was eliminated from the tournament as MacPhee moved up to 86,000 in chips.

O'Shea Bests Hougaard

Pot-Limit Hold'em

John O'Shea was in middle position and raised to 4,100 with jesper Hougaard calling from the big blind. The two of them then saw a flop of {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Hougaard checked. O'Shea fired 4,600 as his continuation bet and Hougaard made the call.

The turn was the {J-Hearts} and both players checked before seeing the {A-Spades} fall on the river. Hougaard checked again to O'Shea. He fired a bet of 14,000 and Hougaard wasn't happy about it at all. He ended up making the call, but mucked his cards when O'Shea tabled the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for a full house, aces over jacks.

O'Shea moved up to 70,000 in chips while Hougaard dropped to about 50,000.

The turn brought the {9-Spades} and gave Velador a straight. The river was the {A-Diamonds} and that was it for Allen. He hit the rail and Velador moved up to 75,000 in chips.
