Mueller Has Sick Read on Gross

Some of the tables reserved for participants who register late are filling up with known pros. One such table contains both Steve Gross and Greg Mueller, who recently got mixed up in a pot together.

Steve Gross raised preflop and had another player move all in for just a few hundred more. Greg Mueller was in the blinds and made the call, as did Gross.

The flop came {q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades} with Mueller checking. When Gross fired a bet 325, Mueller responded by asking, "Sixes?" When Mueller folded, Gross smiled and turned over his hand.

Gross: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The turn provided a little sweat when it came {j-Diamonds}, but the river bricked with the {9-Clubs} and Gross won the pot. When it was all over, Gross turned to Mueller and said, "That was scary."

Gross is now up to 4,000 in chips.

Trés No Good For Mercier

Jason Mercier had managed to double up after being down to about 350 chips earlier in the level. When a middle position player raised to 75 and the cutoff called, Mercier committed his entire stack of about 850. He got called by the initial raiser and the cutoff folded.

Mercier: {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

Mercier wasn't excited to see the hand he was up against. His feelings couldn't have improved as the board ran out {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{j-Spades} and Mercier was headed for the rail.

Team PokerStars Pro Alexandre Gomes opened the pot with a 75-chip raise in middle position and Jamie Rosen called in the big blind.

The flop ran out {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Gomes fired a continuation bet, Rosen called. The turn card was a {a-Diamonds} and Rosen check-raised to 850 chips, the 325-chip bet from Gomes.

The Brazilian moved all in for an additional 1,600 chips and Rosen called.

Gomes tabled {a-Spades}{4-Spades} and Rosen {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, the river was a bricked card and that's the end of the line for Gomes.
