Big Hands in the Blinds

In a hand from the conclusion of the previous level, the table folded around to Noah Boeken in the small blind who raised to 12,000. Daniel Smith then reraised to 26,500 in the big blind. Boeken reraised the pot again, as did Smith, and Boeken called with all of his chips.

Boeken {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Smith {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

Talk about waking up in the blinds with a hand. The board went {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{J-Spades}, and Boeken doubled to 260,000. Smith slipped to 148,000.

Strassmann Sunk, Makhija Moves Up

Amit Makhija raised to 9,000, and Steve Landfish called from the cutoff seat. Johannes Strassmann then reraised to 35,000 from the button. The blinds got out, and Makhija reraised all in. Landfish folded, and Strassmann called with his remaining chips.

Makhija showed {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Strassmann {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. The race was on. The board came {Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, and Makhija ended best. Strassmann is out, and Makhija is up to 217,000.

Marchese Puts the Squeeze On

They call me "kingsofcards" you know

Tom Marchese opened for a 9,500 raise. Ilya Bulychev called on the button before Burt Boutin three-bet to 40,000 from the small blind. Noah Boeken flat-called the reraise from the big blind. With the action back on Marchese, he asked Boeken how much he was playing.

"About 140," Boeken replied.

Marchese made that the amount of his reraise, four-betting to 140,000. Buychev, Boutin, and Boeken all folded and Marchese took it down without a flop. He's up to 380,000.

The action checked around to Meyers on the {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop. He bet 18,000, Pettersson re-potted all-in for 49,500, the rest of the table folded and Meyers called.

River Chases Jace

Clement Thumy opened for 8,500 from the hijack seat and got two callers from the blinds -- Daryl Jace (SB) and Albert Minnullin (BB).

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Jace led for 15,000, Minnullin called, and Thumy folded. The turn was the {A-Hearts}, and after pausing about a half-minute Jace put the rest of his 35,000 in the middle. Minnullin took four minutes contemplating what to do. To call and lose would leave him just 30,000 behind. Finally he did make the call.

Jace flipped over {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for the turned pair of aces, while Minnullin tabled {Q-Spades}{2-Spades}. But the river brought a saving {2-Hearts} for Minnullin, giving him two pair and knocking Jace out.

Minnulin now has 155,000.
