Aces Advance Hanks

Brent Hanks will return for Day 2 after picking up aces in his last hand heads up.

His opponent's cards were already mucked when we reached the table, but the board read: {2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}.

We can assure you of one thing; his opponent didn't hold a three (we're smart)!

Diamonds are Forever

"Winner on Table 3!" a dealer shouted in the Pavilion Room.

When we walked over, Christopher DeMaci was shaking Blair Hinkle's hand before proceeding out of the tournament area. Luckily for us the hands were still face up and it looked like this:

Hinkle: {K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
DeMaci: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

Board: {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

We caught up with Hinkle after the hand, and according to him the money went in on the turn.

Hinkle is guaranteed at least $16,607 and will return tomorrow for Day 2.

Tehan Eliminated

With the action folding round to Joe Tehan in the small blind, he pushed his last 14,000 into the middle and was called by Cliff Josephy from the big blind.

Tehan: {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Josephy: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {J-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Spades} to see Tehan eliminated as Josephy climbs to over 40,000 in chips.

Lykov Busts Raghaven

Maxim Lykov is another player we will see on Day 2; he just bounced Ravi "govshark2" Raghaven from the tournament.

On the final hand, Lykov opened to 2,400 and Raghaven shoved for about 27,000. Lykov called and the hands were turned face up.

Raghaven: {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Lykov: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The {9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop was all she wrote, and after the {3-Diamonds} turn and {7-Clubs} river the elimination was official.

Jaka > Bonomo

Faraz "The-Toilet" Jaka climbed all the way back and eliminated Justin Bonomo to advance to Day 2. We missed the hand, but Jaka was kind enough to give us the scoop.

According to Jaka, he opened to 2,600 and Bonomo shoved for around 30,000. Jaka called and the hands were tabled:

Jaka: {6-}{6-}
Bonomo: {K-}{J-}

Jaka won the race, flushing Bonomo from the tournament.

Morrison Bubbles Again, Channing Wins!

Kirk Morrison kicking the series off with two bubbles
Kirk Morrison kicking the series off with two bubbles

Kirk Morrison pushed his last 20,000 into the pot from the button and was immediately called by Neil Channing.

Morrison: {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
Channing: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The flop of {9-Spades}{3-Spades}{Q-Spades} gave Morrison a set but still left Channing drawing to a spade or running cards for a straight.

Unfortunately for the $50,000 Poker Players Championship bubble boy, Morrison would see the {J-Clubs} and {10-Hearts} fall on the turn and river to see him bubble his second event for the series as Channing progressed through to round two.
