Broadway For Brown Sends Him To Round Two

Chad Brown in action
Chad Brown in action

With the board spread {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{3-Spades} Matt Waxman found himself all in against Chad Brown.

Waxman: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Brown: {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

With Brown having flopped Broadway and a royal flush draw, Waxman would have to improve on his two-pair.

Fortunately for Brown, the river landed the {9-Hearts} to improve his hand to a flush and send Waxman to the rail as the PokerStars Team USA Pro progresses through to the next round and a guaranteed $16,607 payday.

Katchalov's Ladies See Him Progress

On a board reading {7-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} Eugene Katchalov was faced with a 20,000-chip bet into a pot of around the same amount.

Katchalov grabbed a stack of assorted chips amounting around 43,000 and dropped them in front of his cards to put his opponent all in.

After several minutes in the tank, Katchalov's opponent made the call for his tournament life tabling {7-Spades}{6-Spades} to be drawing dead to Katchalov's {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}.

The meaningless {8-Diamonds} landed on the river to send Katchalov through to round two action.

Joseph Elpayaa raised the button and Phil Ivey three-bet. Elpayaa was having none of it and jammed all in to put Ivey to a decision. That decision resulted in a call for his tournament life.

Ivey: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Elpayaa: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} to see Elpayaa strike gold on the flop to send Ivey to the rail and himself into round two and a guaranteed payday of $16,607.

Durrrr vs. Psyduck

The heads up match between Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Vivek "Psyduck" Rajkumar was nothing less than a classic. Here are three of their final hands.

Rajkumar held a slight chip advantage in the first hand, and after Dwan opened to 2,500 he three-bet to 8,200. Dwan called and the two saw a flop of {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}.

Rajkumar led for 14,500 and after an epic staring match Dwan called.

"How much do you have? Rajkumar asked while the dealer burned and turned the {K-Hearts}.

"Forty-six (thousand)," Dwan answered.

Quickly, Rajkumar announced all-in and Dwan thought momentarily before calling. Rajkumar knew he was in trouble before the hands were even turned over:

Dwan: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Rajkumar: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The {4-Diamonds} spiked on the river, and Dwan took a commanding chip lead at about 140,000 to 10,000.

Rajkumar found a quick double though, getting it in with {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} against Dwan's {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}. The flop did bring an ace, the {A-Diamonds}, but there was also an eight; the {8-Clubs}. They were accompanied by the {K-Hearts} and then the {3-Spades} on the turn and the {4-Diamonds} on the river.

The stacks then looked like:

Dwan 127,000
Rajkumar 23,000

In the final hand, the board read {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs} when Dwan led for 2,300. Rajkumar called the turn brought the {3-Diamonds}.

Dwan studied Rajkumar for a moment before moving all-in. Rajkumar called, and it was a brilliant call because his {Q-Spades}{7-Hearts} was way ahead of Dwan's {A-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

Boom, {8-Hearts}.

Dwan and Rajkumar both laughed and then shook hands. The epic match was over, and Rajkumar was eliminated. Dwan quickly made sure he was set for Day 2, and quickly scurried off to play in Event #7: $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball.

Cunningham Culled, Molson WIns!

On a {J-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop Allen Cunningham fired out a bet which William Molson called.

The {3-Spades} landed on the turn and Cunningham again led out with a bet only to be raised all in by Molson. Cunningham made the call and the cards were tabled.

Cunningham: {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Molson: {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

The river landed the {7-Hearts} to put Cunningham on the rail and Molson into round two.

Ivey Leads Heads Up Battle

After dispatching of Jonathan Aguiar, Phil Ivey was at it again eliminating another opponent to go into heads up contention with Joseph Elpayaa.

On a {3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} board, Ivey check-called 5,000 from his opponent to see the {10-Hearts} land on the river. Ivey moved all in and his opponent tanked for over five minutes before making the call.

Finally Ivey's opponent made the call only to muck at the sight of Ivey's {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

With that second near back-to-back elimination, Ivey moves to 85,000 to lead Elpayaa and his 65,000-chip stack.
