Krouner KOd by Kings

Kenneth Krouner
Kenneth Krouner

All of Table 371 just stood up in unison to sweat an all in, so we knew something significant was going on. Sure enough, our intrepid field reporter brought us this gem:

Under the gun, James Dempsey opened to 16,000 before Kenneth Krouner three-bet to 60,000 total. When the action came to Joe Gotlieb, he potted it, enough to cover both of his potential opponents. Dempsey quickly made the call all in, saying, "Time to run good," as he did. Not to be outdone, Krouner slid his chips in as well, putting a pot of nearly a half million chips in the middle of the table. Cards up please, gentlemen:

Dempsey: {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Krouner: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} (oof)
Gotlieb: {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} (also oof, but one flush draw at least)

Despite all the standing and sweating, there wouldn't be much excitement on board. The dealer ran out blanks: {6-Spades} {8-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. That's going to be the end of Krouner's day, and Gotlieb drops all the way down to 120,000.

On quite the flip side of things, James Dempsey is once again the commanding chip leader with 470,000.

Liu and Hayden Swap Stacks

Melissa Hayden
Melissa Hayden

Joe Gotlieb limped in (whaaa?!) from middle position, and Melissa Hayden did the same from the small blind, drawing a check and a look at a free flop from big blind JJ Liu.

The dealer spread out {4-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {9-Spades}, and Hayden checked. Liu bet out 9,000 and Gotlieb called before Hayden snuck in a check-raise to 40,000 total. Liu called and Gotlieb quickly ducked out, and the two ladies went off to the turn heads up.

It brought the {J-Hearts} and check-check, and both players checked again when the {K-Spades} filled out the board.

Hayden showed up {7-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} for one pair, and it was good enough to win the pot. Liu mucked her cards, dropping to 195,000 and pushing her opponent up to 275,000.

Break it Down

The clock has been paused after two more levels, and it's time for a little after-dinner break. The purple T500 chips will be raced off and colored up, and then the clock will start ticking down through this twenty-minute break. We'll be back shortly.

No Más Alvarez!

Mark Babebok opened the pot in middle position with a 20,000-chip raise and Jason Alvarez went all in on the button. Babekov called and Alvarez was facing the elimination.

Showdown
Alvarez: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Babekov: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Board: {q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and Alvarez is our 18th-place finisher.

Serock Slips a Bit

Joe Serock opened the pot with a 12,000-chip bet from the button and Mark Babekov called in the big blind.

The flop came out {4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Babekov check-called a 12,000-chip bet from Serock.

Turn: {10-Clubs} the action was the same but now the value of the bet was 24,000.

River: {8-Diamonds}

Both players checked and Babekov tabled {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} to win the pot.

Babekov is now up to 196,000 chips and Serock slipped to 150,000.
