Lost

Much like the hit TV show, there is a gentleman wandering around the Red Section of the Amazon Room completely lost. A floorperson asked him whether or not he was in Red, Orange or Blue Section and the man simply shrugged.

We hope that the man can find his way, because lighting American currency on fire is a federal crime.

Mizzi Doubles Again

Sorel Mizzi, who was down to just 5,000 not too long ago, was all in preflop for 10,450 with {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} against the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} of Seat 4.

The flop was kind to Mizzi when it came {7-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Seat 4 was looking for a ten to send Mizzi to the rail but didn't get it when the {3-Clubs} came on the turn and {8-Spades} on the river.

Mizzi doubled to around 21,000.

From Far and Wide

The magic of the World Series of Poker is that it brings together such an eclectic range of people, from all across the globe. Some might live in heavily populated cities in which crowded places such as today's Amazon Room are the norm, whilst others will hail from locations in the countryside where their nearest neighbor is over a mile away.

One player on Frank Kassela's table slots firmly into the last category, and seems almost overawed by the occasion. Just moments ago, he revealed it would take just three tables to equal the population of his hometown. Now, I'm no mathematician, but I reckon their are 30 inhabitants where he lives.

Bloch Excuses Himself From Disaster

Andy Bloch
Andy Bloch

We got to Andy Bloch's table to him in the big blind and involved in a pot with four other players - the small blind, cutoff and button.

All four players checked the {q-Spades}{5-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop. When the {7-Hearts} came on the river, the small blind bet 1,850 and Bloch called. The player in the cutoff raised to 7,000 and the player in the button got out of the way before the small blind announced he was all in for about 28,000. Bloch folded, but the cutoff called for his last 20,000.

Cutoff: {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Small Blind: {5-Spades}{7-Spades}

The player in the cutoff had the nuts for the time being, but the small blind had plenty of outs. None of them came, though, with the river delivering the {q-Hearts}.

More for Nuanmanee

A player under the gun limped, a middle position player called, and it folded around to the blinds. The small blind called, and Khamsy Nuanmanee checked from the big blind.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. It checked to the UTG player who bet 750, the middle position player called, as did Nuanmanee. The turn was the {4-Spades}. Nuanmanee checked, the UTG player bet 2,200, and the third player folded. Nuanmanee leaned over to get a look at how much the bettor had left behind -- about 9,000. She then check-raised to 6,125.

That sent her opponent into deep contemplation for about four minutes before finally he pushed his cards away. Nuanmanee has moved up to 132,000, still the biggest stack we've seen thus far today.

Aces for Benyamine

Facing a raise to 1,050, David Benyamine three-bet from the cutoff to 3,300.

With the action back on the original raiser, he made it 8,050 to go, only to have Benyamine grab a stack of chips and dump them in the pot to effectively put his opponent all in.

Benyamine's opponent obliged by making the call for his last 16,000, and we were off to a showdown.

Benyamine: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} to see Benyamine eliminate his opponent and collect the pot to move to 72,000 in chips.

Sheikhan Can't Get Away

There was about 16,800 in the pot with a board reading {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{8-Hearts} when Shawn Sheikhan bet 3,000. His sole opponent in Seat 10 then moved all in for 16,450.

Sheikhan didn't seem happy with the raise and went into the tank. After a couple minutes, Sheikhan asked, "What do you got?" He received no response and tanked for a couple more minutes. "I'm not used to laying down sets," he explained.

Sheikhan tanked for a little while longer before announcing, "Call." Seat 10 immediately flipped over {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a straight and Sheikhan mucked in frustration. He is down to just 6,200.

Flush for Hayden?

Melissa Hayden reached a three-way flop of {3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} (3,500 in the middle) where she called a bet of 2,000.

On the {A-Hearts} turn, her opponent bet 2,000 once again, and Hayden immediately called.

The river came the {5-Hearts}, and the initial aggressor bet - drum roll, please - 2,000.

This time, Hayden reached into her selection of orange chips and raised to 7,000.

As the chip hit the felt, her opponent squirmed in chair and ultimately made the fold.

Hayden up to 40,000.
