Karamalikis Takes Big One To Break

Catching the action on the flop of {A-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}, play checked to Jonathan Karamalikis who checked behind and the {4-Hearts} hit the turn. Again it was checked to Karamalikis who this time fired 13,000. His opponent called and the {5-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

This time the player in early position led out for 32,000 but Karamalikis responded with a raise as he made it 124,000 to go, leaving himself just 64,500 behind. His opponent sighed and made a frustrated fold as Karamalikis chips up to 280,000.

Break: Color-Up Time

Tim McDonald receives a comped buy-in for the 2011 WSOP Main Event from Jack Effel
Tim McDonald receives a comped buy-in for the 2011 WSOP Main Event from Jack Effel

The bubble is burst and players are falling rapidly in the 2010 Main Event.

This year's bubble boy was the bluegrass state's own Tim McDonald. McDonald ran two queens into a flopped full house and was the 748th player eliminated from the tournament. McDonald receives a buy-in into next year's Main Event, and we wish him better fortune in 2011.

Since we've reached the money, 54 players have busted and while players are dropping like flies, Matt Affleck is still atop our counts with 1,495,000 chips.

We're on a brief, 20-minute break to color up the T500 chips. See ya in a bit!

Chiu Rockets Up to 9 Big Blinds

It folded around to David Chiu, who pushed for his last 35,000 in the cutoff. Theo Jorgensen folded his button, both blinds folded too, and Chiu picked up the blinds and antes.

"I swear to god, I didn't look at my cards," he told the table, "I only looked at one," - and showed everyone {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}.

Rosenkrantz Ducks Out

Right off the bat we lost Jay Rosenkrantz who found himself all in with {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades} versus {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. The {4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop was of little use, as was the {3-Spades}, and despite using his finger as a magic wand and pointing at the felt, the {5-Spades} river was a blank.

"Good game, good playing with you," he said as he lifted a black duck from the table.

Kassela Knocked Out, Assured Share of WSOP POY

In the second hand back from the break, Frank Kassela raised to 17,000 from middle position, and it folded around to the blinds. The player in the small blind reraised all in, then the big blind -- who had both players covered -- went all in as well.

Kassela showed {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, the player in the small blind showed {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, and the BB tabled {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}.

The flop came {7-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{3-Spades}, giving the SB the one queen left in the deck to make his set. The big blind immediately began calling for spades, and one came on the turn, the {4-Spades}. The dealer then burned a card and dealt fifth street -- the {2-Spades}! The flush came in, and two players, including Frank Kassela, were eliminated.

By making the cash, Kassela ensures himself at least a share of the WSOP Player of the Year title. And if Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi doesn't win the whole ball of wax, Kassela will take the POY outright.

The main feature table is waiting to fill some empty seats right now. Mizrachi, by the way, is sitting on 92,000.
