Big Drama Between Hollywood Dave and Men Nguyen

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Dave Stann and Men Nguyen getting chippy
Dave Stann and Men Nguyen getting chippy

In a hand between "Hollywood" Dave Stann and Men Nguyen, the whole pot was being shipped to Dave when he stopped the dealer and called over the floor. Both players seemed to realize that it was a chopped pot and along with the floor people Dave chopped up the pot to give Men his half.

After the hand, Men did something along the lines of calling Dave a cheater for trying to take the whole pot although it seemed like it was Dave who was doing his best to make sure Men got his half.

In the next hand, after words were exchanged, Dave stared Men down for two or three minutes without budging or looking at his hand until the floor was called on him and they went off on each other. They were threatened with penalties if anymore words were exchanged and this seemed to quiet the two down.

This is what was said according to Lex Veldhuis' twitter page,

"Quote of the century by Men The Master: 'You're a cheater, trying to take my money.' He is causing a big scene being obnoxious as always."

Both are still in the tournament, so we will be sure to let you know if anything else develops between the two characters.

Ted Lawson Doubles

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

We didn't see much of the action, but Ted Lawson doubled when he showed a {A-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} on a board of {3-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a full house and the nut low.

His opponent, Robert Mougous, showed the {3-Clubs} which made him a flopped set of threes for a tough beat.

Lawson is up to 30,000

Clements Back Just in Time to Lose 20k Pot

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

We don't know where Scott Clements was off to in such a hurry, but we saw him sprint out of the Amazon Room with his backpack, only to return about 5 minutes later in similar hasty fashion.

In his first hand back, he got involved with Troy Palmer who raised to 3,000 preflop from middle position. Clement called to see the flop of {5-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{A-Clubs}

On the flop, Palmer bet out 1500, Clements raised, and Palmer called.

The turn was the {K-Clubs}, Palmer checked, Clements bet 3,000 and Palmer called.

The river was the {2-Hearts}, Palmer bet 3,000 and Clements called.

Palmer turned over {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for top two pair and no low, but it was good enough to scoop the massive pot and put him up to 55,000. Clements on the other hand was knocked down to 56,000.

The Shark Cho(m)ps

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Humberto Brenes and Blake Cahail capped the betting preflop and saw a {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop. Cahail led out, got raised by Brenes and just called. The turn was the {8-Clubs} and Cahail check called Brenes’ bet. On the {10-Hearts} river, Cahail moved all in and was called by Brenes. Cahail showed {A-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Spades} for the nut low. Brenes held {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and his two pair was enough to chop the pot. Brenes had 62,000 after the hand while Cahail was at 18,000.

Omaha Specialists Emerge

Level 13 : 800/1,500, 0 ante

In a field of this size with so many legends of the game, it's easy to look over the recent masters of Omaha who have emerged in the field.

Miguel Proulx had two major Omaha scores last year with a second in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship and a bracelet in the $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. He is sitting with 71,000 in this event.

James Dempsey came second in last year's $10,000 Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better World Championship and is up to 75,000 in this event.

Scott Clements is by no means a player who ever gets looked over in the events he plays, but people sometimes forget how much success he has had in Omaha. In 2009 he took 3rd in the $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better event and 2nd in the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better World Championship. Adding to that, he won a bracelet in 2006 in the $3,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better event and in 2007 in the $1500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. A few minutes ago he was up to 75,000 but is now down to 56,000.
