Hamlett Sends One Home

Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

It was the battle of the blinds as everyone but the blinds opted to skip the hand. Eugene Katchalov in the small blind raised and was summarily reraised by Thomas Hamlett in the big blind. After Katchalov made the call he took two cards, while Hamlett only took one.

Katchalov then check-called a bet from Hamlett and opted to take another two cards. Hamlett still saerching for that perfect card took only one again. Hamlett again put out a bet this time enough to put Katchalov all in. Katchalov made the call and was at risk.

Katchalov took one last card while Hamlett stood pat. Hamlett then showed {9-}{8-}{5-}{4-}{3-} for a nine low. Katchalov was unable to counter as all he could produce was {3-}{3-}{7-}{4-}{2-}, for a pair of threes.

Sklansky Deals Lisandro Big Blow

Jeff Lisandro is one of our shortest stacks after taking a big hit in a hand vs. David Sklansky.

Sklansky raised it up on the button and Lisandro called from the big blind. Lisandro drew two and Sklansky drew one. Lisandro check-called a bet from Sklansky before drawing one on the second draw. Sklansky stood pat and again Lisandro check-called a bet from Sklansky. Lisandro drew one on the third draw and Sklansky still stood pat. The two checked the last round of betting and Sklansky showed his superior {9-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{2-}.

Sklansky has close to 30,000 and is still short, but not as short as Lisandro who is left with only 9,000 after the hand

Raymer's Rising Stack

Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer

We caught Raymer raising from early position and receiving a call from a player in the big blind. Both players then opted to take two cards. After his opponent checked Raymer decided to keep up with the betting and fired out again. The big blind called.

The big blind then took two cards while a quiet Raymer stood pat. Again the big blind checked-called a bet from Raymer.

The big blind this time took one card and Raymer continued to stand pat. Raymer not at all getting bored with this repition bet out again after the big blind checked, and was awarded the pot after the big blind folded.

Matusow And Seiver Get Involved

Matusow raised it up and was re-raised by Scott Seiver. Matusow made the call. Seiver drew one and Matusow drew two before checking to Seiver who bet out. Matusow called and drew two to Seiver's one again. Matusow checked again, Seiver bet again, and Matusow called again. Matusow stood pat and Seiver drew one yet again. Matusow checked again in the third round, Seiver bet, and Matusow called.

Matusow showed {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{2-} and Seiver just showed a {q-} Matusow took down the pot and got some life back.

Mercier And Bonomo Neck And Neck For Chip Lead

Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

During the dinner break, we had Jason Mercier listed at 105,000 and Justin Bonomo listed at 108,500, well, Mercier was quick to let us know that he had 111,000 and that he was chip leader. He said jokingly, "Hey make sure you have me at 111,000, my parents would be disappointed if I was in second."

Right after that interaction, he played a hand that got him a few more. Jared Bleznick raised it up on the button and Mercier called in the big blind. He and Bleznick both drew three and then Mercier bet out with Bleznick calling. On draw two, Mercier only drew one and Bleznick drew two. Mercier bet out again, Bleznick raised, and Mercier called. On the third draw, Mercier stood pat and Bleznick took one more. Both players checked the third round and Mercier showed {8-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-} for the win. Bleznick was crippled by the hand and knocked out shortly after.

Right across the room, Justin Bonomo has continued to pick up ground as well and is up around 120,000. In this hand, Bonomo raised it up and was called by a player in the small blind. Bonomo drew two and the small blind drew three. After the draw, the small blind checked, Bonomo bet and the small blind called. Bonomo stood pat on the second draw and the small blind again drew three.

Again, the small blind check-called a bet from Bonomo and then drew one on the final draw. Bonomo stood pat again and the small blind checked to him on the third round. Bonomo bet again and got a call again. He showed {8-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} to take down the pot and move up to around 120,000.

From hand to hand these two are about even in chips, but in the next few levels we'll see if one can separate himself from the other and start to establish a big chip lead.

Sklansky One Better

Jimmy Fricke
Jimmy Fricke

David Sklansky and Jimmy Fricke wasted no time getting involved in a pot right after break. We managed to get to the table just as both players were taking two cards for their first draw.

Sklansky seemingly liked what he saw, seeing as he came out betting. Fricke apparently really liked his cards more though, because he reraised. Sklansky made the call, and both players stood pat with their hands.

Sklansky check-called a bet from Fricke. They again stood pat, and again Sklansky check-called a bet.

Fricke announced "eight, seven, five" and Sklansky flipped over {8-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for a better low and the winning hand.
