Speir Quadruples But Cousineau Big Winner

Day 1 chip leader William Speir went all in preflop, Jeffrey Gibralter reraised to 21,500 with Ferenc Deak and Roch Cousineau calling as the players saw a {J-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop. Roch Cousineau was first to act from the small blind and led out for 40,000, Gibralter got out of the way but Deak called all in and Cousineau would have a chance for the double knockout.

Speir: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Deak: {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Cousineau {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

Speir was looking good with a jacks-full for the quadruple up as long as Deak didn’t hit the case five for quads while Cousineau held the nut flush draw. The turn was the {10-Spades} which didn’t change a thing but the river came the {9-Clubs} which gave Cousineau his flush to win the sidepot and eliminate Deak.

Outhred In

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Alex Outhred
Alex Outhred

Fabrizio Gonzalez opened with a raise to 6,000 from under the gun, and it folded around to Alex Outhred who pushed all in from the button for about 21,000. The blinds got out, and Gonzalez called.

Gonzalez showed {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Outhred {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The flop fell Outhred's way, coming {Q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. The turn was the {2-Clubs} and river the {7-Clubs}, and Outhred doubled to about 42,000. Gonzalez is at 149,000 currently.

No Deep Run For Seiborg.

Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

Erik Seidel has been short all day and finally just busted in 58th. This makes Seidel's fourth cash of this WSOP, and while for many this is would be a great summer, after the year he has had so far it is no doubt surprising to most that he has not had more success. He'll certainly be a player to watch in tomorrow's $50,000 Poker Player's Championship and in the Main Event coming up in less than a week.

Speir Going Down

Our Day 1 chip leader, William Speir, has now fallen into the danger zone with only 7,000 chips.

He was all in preflop against Roch Cousineau for a massive pot.

Cousineau had {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Speir had {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The flop came {3-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} to give Speir trip kings and some hope, but the turn was an {a-Spades} to give Cousineau trip aces. It did keep the possibility of a low open but the river {j-Hearts} was no help and Cousineau shot up to 190,000.

Eam Eliminated

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Zachary Hench raised to 10,500 from under the gun, then Vorakboth Eam reraised all in from one seat over. Diego Herrera called the reraise from the button, as did the small blind and Hench.

The flop came {2-Spades}{K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. The small blind checked, Hench pushed all in with the 11,000 he had left, Herrera called, and the small blind folded.

Hench {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}
Eam {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Herrera {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}

The turn was the {2-Spades} and river the {A-Spades}. That meant no low, and Hench getting the high with deuces full of aces. Eam is out, Hench bumps up to 66,000, and Herrera slips to 60,000.

Gibralter Rocking

We found Aaron Sias all in preflop and at risk against Jeffrey Gibralter. Their hands were as follows.

Gibralter: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Sias: {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds} which put Sias ahead on the turn with tens-up but Gibralter made kings-up on the river and with no low possible, it would mean the end of the day for Sias.

Nut-Nut Babyyyyy

We found Trevor Reader all in and at risk preflop against Tyler Fields. Their hands were as follows.

Fields: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Reader: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}

The board rolled out {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Spades} to give fields the nut flush and the nut low which only meant one thing...nut-nut baby as Reader was eliminated.

More Knockouts

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

A couple of eliminations just after the return from break.

First, Danny Smith went out on the first hand back over on table 372. Then nearby on Table 375, Damjan Radanov open-pushed all in for his last 9,000 from the button. It folded to Fabrizio Gonzalez in the big blind who picked a few chips off his massive stack and made the call.

Gonzalez had {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Radanov {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. The board came {8-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, giving Gonzalez a straight and sending Radanov railward. Gonzalez is now up around 168,000.
