Bellande's Stack Growing

Jean-Robert Bellande made it 425 preflop from late position and was called by the button and the small blind. The flop fell {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and the small blind checked to Bellande who continued out for 1,000. Both players called the bet and all three saw the {8-Clubs} turn. Action checked all of the way around the table and fifth street came {2-Clubs}.

The small blind player checked once again and Bellande fired out 2,500. The button quickly folded and the small blind took some time but also eventually mucked his cards.

"Good lay down, boys", Bellande said as he scooped a pot that brought him to about 55,000.

Gates Dials AAA

Garry Gates opened to 525 from under the gun, Derek Bailey called in middle position, and Mac Sohrabi called out of the small blind. The flop fell {7-Spades}{k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, Sohrabi checked, Gates continued for 1,200, and Bailey called. Sohrabi mucked, and the turn was the {a-Spades}. Both players checked.

The river was the {5-Spades}, and Gates tossed out 2,000. Bailey quickly called.

Gates tabled two red aces for top set, Bailey mucked, and Gates dragged in another pot.

Ramos Reeling

A player in early position opened for 600 and was called by Felipe Ramos from the cutoff. The player in the small blind went all in for his last 4,150 and the original raiser folded. Ramos called.

Ramos: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Opponent: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The {10-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{8-Clubs} kept Ramos in the lead, however, the {9-Spades} on the turn gave his opponent a straight. A meaningless {7-Diamonds} completed the board and Ramos' opponent doubled through him.

Ramos is down to 15,000.

Wade Gets Walloped

A player ended up all in for his last 18,400 preflop and was up against Tristan Wade.

Wade: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Opponent: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

It looked like curtains for the player holding nines after the flop came {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, but then the {9-Clubs} fell on the turn giving him a set and the lead. The {4-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing and the other player doubled up while Wade was left with 22,000.

Alright Aldridge

We caught up to the action at Table 293 to find four players witnessing a {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} flop. Ken Aldridge in the big blind bet out 1,600 and was able to convince Jake Cody to call while the two other players folded.

With a {2-Hearts} on the turn Aldridge fired out 3,000. Cody made the call and it was off to the river.

A {a-Spades} fell in place for the river and both players opted to knuckle. Aldridge showed {A-Clubs}{j-Spades} for two pair aces and jacks while Cody simply mucked.

Akkari Short Annnnnnddddd Out

Andre Akkari
Andre Akkari

Bracelet winner and Team PokerStars Pro (Brazil) Andre Akkari is out of the Main Event.

We saw Akkari lose a few hands to Mike Matusow including this one where on a flop of {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} Matusow bet out 575 and Akkari raised it up to 1,625. Matusow made the call and the two saw the turn {7-Hearts} both players checked and the river came {7-Clubs} Both players checked again and Matusow announced, "I would've played kings or aces the same way" as he showed down {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for top pair. Akkari mucked and was down to just 12,000 at that point.

While we missed the action, we did see him getting up and walking away from the table just a few hands later. Although he made an early Main Event exit, it does not overshadow his excellent series and bracelet win with one of the most exciting rails the WSOP has ever seen.

Hall Fills Up

We caught up with the action four-handed on a {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop, where it was checked around to the player in the cutoff, who bet 800. Both blinds folded, but Galen Hall called from early position.

Hall check-called a 1,600 bet from his opponent on the {7-Hearts} turn. However, when a {7-Spades} came on the river, Hall led out for 6,100 and was quickly called by his opponent. Hall tabled {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a full house and his opponent nodded in acknowledgement before mucking.

Hall is up to 42,000.
